I've been thinking. I'm a pretty vicious gamer, and I can barely stay away from my soap operas for more than a day...would it be alright to force while I play? If I tried it passively, would that be a little too much for me to do, or is it something safe?

I feel like I'd be attaching traits the characters had that I don't want, but I really don't think I can focus on forcing while I'm still waiting to see what happens after the next boss, et patati et patata.

It's perfectly safe. Is it dangerous if your friend talked to you about a game? No.

Additionally, the general consensus is that what you talk about doesn't matter as long as it makes sense and you are talking to your tulpa.

As for if it's too much for you, it depends on if you can focus on narrating while playing. I myself have tried, and find that I often get too involved in the game.

Good luck!

Procron X summed it up.

I'll admit, I did this. I'd narrate about what was happening in Devil May Cry and Demon's Souls when we were just starting out and it just seemed like a more enjoyable way to incorporate her with what I was doing. Though by vicious gamer, we're talking what, Touhou?

Sometimes my tulpa and I try to force her into the game when I play. You can't force them in as a second player, but it's still kinda cool to let them experience the world of the game with you like that. Though we find it a little harder to force ingame than in the real world.

Personally I have to be doing something while I passively force otherwise I get extremely bored and end up active forcing. I find it easier to just pretend that Zala is 'hitch hiking' on everything I'm seeing but she relies on me to explain what's going on.

So if I'm playing a video game or reading a book I basically think out loud as to why I'm doing things or thinking a certain way. Personally though, if I'm playing a mental-intense game (like League of Legends) which require almost 100% focus at all times I may put the passive forcing on hold while I play. But if I'm doing' something mindless like playing Metal Gear or CoD I'll just naturally be able to split my focus more.

Forcing whenever you can is the advice I'll give. Whether it's playing video games or driving in the car there's always chances you'll get to force.

I used to insert my girls into the game sometimes as NPCs of a sort, though I guess if your tulpa doesn't like fighting that could potentially be problematic. And of course you can always narrate to them while you play, maybe even treat it like a Let's Play and commentate what's happening in the game, adding in your own thoughts or whatever you feel like talking about.

My progress report

I upload videos of myself playing games to Youtube, so I find it surprising that I can't actually seem to focus on narrating while playing. I guess I'm just too used to talking to myself rather than to someone who doesn't answer yet.

To add to this, I would play some old ps1 games that I truly loved to play and talk about them to my tulpas. I would explain why this game is so awesome for its game play and sometimes Buddy would tell me to play one game if I referred to it. Often times, he asks me to play more Final Fantasy or Vagrant Story. I think he's a fan of Square Enix. :)

I tried it! Ves seems pretty indifferent to it all, no matter how interested I am. I got tossed like a Raggedy Ann and all she said was 'Damn. I guess you're wanting to play that science game then.' I popped in Portal 2 and was absolutely confused for about 20 minutes, to which she replied (quite languidly, I might add) 'Huh. Gel isn't so fun, is it? Maybe ninjas.' Enter Naruto Storm 2, and I fight for about an hour. 'Oh, come on! No ninjas, no science! Play with me! I wanna fight stuff. Fuck those ninjas.'
