SHADOWFOX136 December 4, 2013 December 4, 2013 Greetings all, I wanted to ask your thoughts on the Phaneron. But more importantly what a tulpa means to the phaneron, dose it change the way we think of the phaneron, dose it disprove parts of it? But what is the Phaneron? The word was coined bye Charles Peirce that states all information is filtered through our senses and embodies the only information that we can get. You only experience the Phaneron, not reality. A solipsistic way of looking is only you exists and everything else is all figments of your mind. You can find information about this here http://www.helsinki.fi/science/commens/terms/phaneron.html orhttp://www.textlog.de/4324.html but i also suggest you look it up yourself. An example: UV Radiation exists in the real world but humans can't sense uv radiation and only exists in the phaneron based on the faith that UV senors are accurate.
LukeDude759 December 5, 2013 December 5, 2013 So anyone reading this topic who believes in the Phaneron will think they subconsciously imagined this topic and my reply to it being posted? Or is it more specific, as in things we can't see but have evidence of, like electromagnetic radiation outside of the visible spectrum? Quilten December 5, 2013 December 5, 2013 Oh my lord, for a second there I thought this thread was about me. Scared me half to death, :D . I am technically a solipsist, but honestly I try not to think about because it makes me very depressed to do so. My thoughts are that whether or not solipsism is true (I hope it is not, but my ridiculously irrational brain seems to only be able to come to that conclusion), the idea of the phaneron is interesting, and I beleive there was a Vsauce video about the very subject that was posted previously, somewhere. I suppose the relation to tulpae is not really that different from its relationship with other people outside of the supposed phaneron. Then again, I'd be curious to know whether it could be that the tulpae share the phaneron, and therefore making it only semi-subjective. I'm not sure. SHADOWFOX136 December 5, 2013 Author December 5, 2013 You see, I assumed a tulpa was in your phanaron. Do you not believe that your tulpa receives the same information you do? Can it receive it's own information without you? As in smell something before you can? Or an extreme like read a book you haven't?
Quilten December 5, 2013 December 5, 2013 It can do all of those things, besides reading a book before me, but I suppose that could be accomplished through switching. I suppose if the phaneron is true, then tulpae are just a false manifestation of part of the phaneron, but within it. Therefore, if one has tulpae and believes in the phaneron, one has separated the phaneron into multiple parts. Honestly, I'm just talking out of my ass, so feel free to disregard my inconsistent belief system. SHADOWFOX136 December 5, 2013 Author December 5, 2013 You caught me, I quoted a lot of what that video said to make a persona that I am smarter than I actually am.
SHADOWFOX136 December 6, 2013 Author December 6, 2013 No no this indeed helps with my question. Although if it is true what your said than this thread is sort of pointless. I will make a new thread before I continue this one with more information though.
