You laugh, but I can fully back up @bunnymustdie and confirm that there is some occult/magickal backing regarding at least some tulpas. If you investigate certain occult matters sufficiently, you will find out evidences for yourself. Even now, I am still falling down this longgg, long rabbit hole. Or don't investigate it! That's actually totally fine too. (Not being sarcastic.) This path is not fit for everyone and holds nasty dangers, so if you go down that path, be very careful.

I went down that rabbit hole and it was the scariest 5-year roller coaster of my life. Highly do NOT recommend, I like being able to sleep at night without being fucked with by shit I can’t hit back.

that being said, there are some methods for tulpa creation that aren’t metaphysical at all - purely just mental. Those are fine and dandy.

funny enough, I even tried those ‘not’ metaphysical methods and still ended up with dozens of problematic spirits for years. So who knows? That’s basically what I learned after diving into that shit for half a decade: no one really knows anything about how that stuff works. Everyone’s just guessing at best, or the ‘spirits’ are leading you on at worst. Everything you read/learn is just some other practitioner’s beliefs and experiences, and most of the time your own experimentation will yield entirely different results.

Sometimes I poke fun at Luna by half-jokingly asking if she's really a succubus, and she always gives some kind of flippant response to that. I asked her once if I could do anything to possibly repay her for all the help she's been in my life, and she half-jokingly said "You could give me your firstborn daughter". I don't think I can believe that they're really spirits or demons though. We do very rarely get comments from others that perceive some other entity is with me, either something that appears to be human at a glance, or sometimes something less distinct (one of my clients at my last job said she saw someone else's shadow in the room; mind you, this person had no history of severe mental illness and reported she had never hallucinated anything).

Regarding having your tulpa push you with working out or with physical tasks, Elise is good at that. She knows how to cheer me on or just push my buttons until I do the thing and manage to surprise myself.

It's hard to point to one defining moment of "my tulpa is definitely real" in our case, but Luna's literally saved my life on more than one occasion. She's there when I'm feeling overwhelmed at work, calmly walking me through the steps to accomplish a task. When it comes to parties and social gatherings, she knows how to get me up out of my seat and joining in the fun when my natural tendency is to just avoid that sort of thing completely. I used to be a real homebody, but she likes it when I take her on dates to places we've never been. Sometimes she'll even jump in and possess me when I let my guard down, usually just to do something small for us before ceding control again. There was a particularly difficult client at my last job who I really struggled to deal with without losing my cool. Luna got fed up with her bullshit and said "Let me solo her", so I did, and she went in there like an absolute girlboss and laid down the law with our client in the most professional way possible. She's been a great help not just in my professional life but also many other areas of my life, giving me encouragement and support to pursue my goals. And when I was in grad school, she not only helped with schoolwork but also got me to start managing my stress in new ways (though that's too NSFW for this thread; if you know her, you know 😜). Basically, she is many things to me, but first and foremost I consider her a close friend, and she has rarely if ever steered me wrong in life.

My progress report

@glitchthe3rdit's so interesting to see how close our tulpa experiences are.

I only have one tulpa (well, used to have more) but Cheryl too did help me with Chemistry in high school which I was too lazy to attend properly (she ended up being near top of the class during the year she took lectures and tests for me) and we also do not have any romantic involvement, but our relationship is far beyond just friendship, it's probably a new type of relationship that can't be described using the common terms.

I want to ask you this: regarding "parallel processing" or the ability for you and the tulpers to co-exist and think independently and simultaneously to eachother, what have you achieved? Do you think is even possible? I remember you being one of the OGs and also someone with extensive imposition/mental hackery experience so I think you might be able to give some insights here

Hmm, in our case it might not be accurate to call it parallel processing so much as they can think about things in the background while I go about my day. They say that they can do things in the wonderland without my involvement, but it's likely that's a confabulation to some extent.

Confabulation is making up memories on the spot and believing they happened retroactively

It's a real medical term, but used with a little less weight in tulpamancy context here - it's not exactly the end of the world to believe in more immersive tulpamancy experiences. But, when discussing how it all works with other people... Claiming things to be the case when they probably aren't isn't great

(In the Parallel Processing Megathread I made, I (towards the end) mentioned this as well as seeding bits of consciousness over time to then string together into fuller memories later as actual plausibly intentional method of attaining parallel processing-like experiences, which is the opposite of calling it a bad thing I'd think)

My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.

I know what the word means, my question is related to receiving an "untrue" response and labeling it as "confabulation", or perhaps I misunderstood

Realistically speaking I'd be puzzled if my tulpa told me things that didn't happen or that I made up to validate my beliefs - we had our brief share of wonderland immersion and parallel processing shenanigans and we know what our "limits" are - being upfront with them I think is healthier than just "pretending impossible stuff happened" but we're kinda derailing from the original topic at this point

He didn't mean untrue, just "Might be made up on the spot". It's as legitimate of from-your-tulpa activity as any other experience, really, it's just a comment on the nature of it in relation to supposed parallel processing/background thought, being subconsciously "made up" on the spot (or seeded over time and expanded upon when thought about)

Let's just hear directly from the guy, whenever he comes around, throwing guesses around doesn't help much

During the very first episode of it that I remember, I saw a disembodied head of some sort through what was likely my mind's eye and it terrified me. I researched this phenomenon and learned that this is a class of entities referred to as "Dwellers on the Threshold" in the astral projection related communities. It's a sort of being that people sometimes see when they have sleep paralysis and are on the cusp of an astral projection. Fear appears to attract them or otherwise trigger their appearance, but sometimes they just show up regardless. People tend to have different theories on what they are - some think they are a subconscious projection of one's fear during that delicate stage in between waking and dreaming, other consider them as a sort of minor entity that feeds on fear and plays harmless prank to people who can see them, and there are also those who think of them as a mix of both.

That’s actually really creepy - my first sleep paralysis experience ever was a disembodied ‘burn victim’ head screaming at me so loud I couldn’t even hear it, just feel the noise coursing through my body. Never had an experience that vivid, but had sleep paralysis entities and other shit happen basically every night for the next few years since that one.

weird seeing someone experience something so similar, gonna go look up Dwellers now lol thanks

also as far as what Glitch said, that’s hilarious and tbh my outlook on the supernatural at this point in a nutshell: it’s probably some real shit, but there’s no way in hell I’ll ever fully understand it so as long as its not detrimental to my life I’m vibin’ with it.
