So I have one if those brains that thoughts fly in and out of really quickly, and my minds eye is horrid (I can only see dim shapes, the can be complex but it's really dim) I don't want to skip this phase, but even when I get her pictured, a thought come up and takes it away. What do I do?

Two ideas pop up right away. Either you can do what Einulf did for me and start without a form, or you can use an avatar creator online to make something close to what you want until she can control her own form. Starting formless can be tricky, but it can be done. Personally, I'd try the second method first.

This. If you can almost memorize the avatar you create for her, then it will be easier to bring up her form in your mind. It would be recalling a memory.

 

Or, if you like drawing, you can draw her (this may actually work better because you have more control). My tulpa was a drawing first, so his form is easy to remember.

I'm fond of this method. But yeah, as the others have said, creating an image helps a lot, not just because you have something to look at, but also because it exercises the parts of your brain used for visualization. Keep making art and your visualization ability will keep getting better and better.

 

As for focus, mediation helps with that, if you can stick with it.
