I visualize almost all the time everyday without being able to control it, it comes at random. The thing is, this happens in millisecond/1 second flashes and my eyes are always open. When I actually try, It's just black. I try to move to my mind's eye, but I guess I don't know how?? Sometimes I sense what I want to visualize and I can barely make it out, but it's not there. I can't actually see it, and can't really understand the guides on this...

[i'm gonna let Owen handle this, coz IDFK]

How long have you been attempting any form of visualization? Have you done anything that required visualizing before you started tulpamancy? What you're describing sounds a lot like what happens when someone starts mind's eye exercises for the very first time. It takes time. Lots of time. I can't tell you how long because everyone is different. I can't even tell you how long it took me because I've had vivid imagery since I was a child.

A lot of the things to do tuppers just take good old fashion time and hard work.

It's not so unusual that you visualize at random throughout the day, but it is that you can't do it on-command.

I've heard something about this, but before I go into detail I would rather clear up any confusion I might have: Are you saying that if you close your eyes right now and try to picture a door--just a door--you can't do it?

This struggle moderately applies to me and I would like more information on this issue.

Bambi: I can picture a door, but it's weird. Like distorted almost, and it moves around sporadically. It's also really dark, like almost to the point where you're in darkness but have waited until your eyes adjust to where you can see a little. I don't know how the TC sees things since they haven't responded in a while and I don't mean to thread hijack, but you mentioned you had more things you were going to go into detail about. Would you mind explaining what you were going to say?

First, I'm sorry that it's taken me such a long time to respond to this. I recently started college, and I'm just now really enjoying a bit of free time (before I start studying again).

Anyway . . . what you're describe doesn't sound like anything to worry about. More often than not, images are blurry, dark, and distorted if a person is only just starting to practice visualization OR if they're trying to, but not dedicating their whole mind and heart to the process (for example, if you're so tired while trying to hang out with your tulpa, so instead of everything coming in crystal clear it goes in and out). Visualization generally doesn't come naturally, and it must be done consistently and for at least ten minutes--preferably longer--for there to be quick improvement.

In my experience, it's also better to start small. When I first started visualizing I focused only on James, and then when I had him more or less down I went on to do a room that was relatively bare, and then I would go down all throughout the house. Keep in mind, though, that that's a longer process than what I made it sound like; if I had to guess, I think that would have taken at least two months for me to do comfortably.

The rest of what I was going to say before was simply trying to explain what people mean when they talk about the mind's eye and the potential problem Aikeira might have if they really can't picture a door. If you have any questions, though, I would be happy to assist. :)

James: Hello, all!
