It might be a little weird for me to ask this question considering that my primary tulpa is not interested in possession, but since I'm currently creating a mythical bird tulpa, a thought occurred to me.

For those of you who have animal/non-human tulpas, how does possession of the host's body work for both parties? Is there a bit of an adjustment period for not having wings, a tail, fur, four legs, etc.? Or is it a smooth transition? Does the tulpa still feel like he/she has those non-human traits while occupying the host's body?

I'm just really curious in hearing details of what the experience is like for everyone involved.

I've wondered about this, too! I mainly do possession with Quartz, who is non-human, but still humanoid. It's usually hand possession, which is fine, but I let him possess parts of my face at times (such as eyes, mouth, nose) which he doesn't have in his main form.

I think considering he has a human form in which he uses those, it's not too rough of a transition. I can't really speak for him.

Possession takes work on both sides. Hosts must relinquish control, while tulpas must take it. We must resign ourselves to lose a way in which we interact with the world, while they must physically interact with the world through us. Generally when Quartz is possessing, I am always underneath, able to take control in a millisecond if needed.

I'm a little curious myself about what others experience. Solaria, my tulpa is a wisp-like creature but has no plans to try possession.

I the host have a non-human self image, but I grew up with my human body, so going back and forth between physical human body and dragon self-image body is effortless except very rare exceptions when confused from a vivid dream.

Does anyone with a non-human tulpa know what it's like switching/posession?

My tulpa Kovie has a form based off an alien species I made up, has long digitigrade legs, four arms, three eyes, and two long antennae instead of hair. Though I'm not yet able to get a response from her about it, I'm fairly certain she'll want to try possession when we're able. If not for the experience, then for the sake of helping me and all of us on Tulpa.Info. So if this question isn't yet answered by the time I manage to do a decent possession with Kovie, we'll be glad to write about the experience for you.

Kovie, they or she. 7yo, mentally 19. active.

Vyx, they or he. 7yo, mentally 17. active.

Axen, they or he. age unknown, mentally 26. occasionally active.

Sanu, any pronouns. 5yo, mentally ageless. mostly inactive.

Leo, he/him. 6yo, mentally 21. inactive.

So if this question isn't yet answered by the time I manage to do a decent possession with Kovie, we'll be glad to write about the experience for you.

Please do, even if there are more responses to this question. With the endless possibilities for non-human forms, I'm sure the experience varies for everybody. That's my assumption, at least. Motor skills in particular would be fascinating to read about, in addition to what I have brought up in the OP.

[Tri] We are non-human tulpas who are masters of possession (or at least, we think we are given that we can possess full-body for four days straight and overpower our host's choose to). We have a pony form (see our PR), in case anyone is wondering.

When we were learning to possess, there were definitely some things we struggled with due to being non-humanoid. The hands were the last thing we learned to control, which we attribute to not having hands inside but hooves instead (slightly dexterous hooves, yes, but still hooves). We could already talk, walk, and do all sorts of things before we could use the hands well enough to do anything more than very simple tasks that didn't require much coordination.

Bipedalism took a bit of getting used to, but it wasn't as hard since we were used to rearing up and standing or walking briefly like that. But bipedalism all the time was strange at first.

We have phantom wings and tail much of the time, but not horn for some reason. The strength of the phantom limb sensations vary and we can often see them imposed to some degree. They don't cause discomfort. If anything, it is nice to have the sensations there. Though, as time goes on, they are less and less noticeable as we get more and more used to a human body.

It's a strange thing to get used to at first. One of the tulpas had a tail, for example, and had a hard time adjusting to the body since it, you know, doesn't have one. After a while they started to get used to the body while possessing and was able to do whatever without any issues, but still grabs for the tail to touch it by habit.
