Favorite vidyas of all time?

1.  Bioshock:  The 1st one from 2007.  Nothing beats that game for me.

2.  Skyrim:  I feel like this game played a huge role in making me who I am, idk.

3.  Fallout 3

4.  Half Life 1/2

Wind Waker is definitely my top pick, I revisit that once a year on average. Paper Mario TTYD is another great game, and I like the Metroid Prime trilogy. Really, the Gamecube has a lot of really good games.

Paper Mario TTYD is awesome! Amazing game design! Speaking of game design, how do you feel about the triforce pieces in Wind Waker at the end? I'm pretty sure everyone I've heard talk about liking the game personally says that kind of ruins the game for them. I barely remember it but I didn't mind it, it didn't feel as long to me as it did for everyone else I guess.

@Bertok You should try playing Oblivion, or maybe Morrowind, with some HD texture mods if necessary or something. I know tons of people probably older than you that say the same thing about those two games (one of them played Morrowind when it came out in their early 20s, so), and they all say Skyrim was worse at some of the best parts of 3 and 4. Apparently 3 (Morrowind) was really in-depth, and then 4 (Oblivion) had better graphics and environments or something but wasn't quite as in-depth. Seemed like Skyrim's system to me, but we never really played any of them. I'm just sayin' what I've heard. For what I've seen personally, Skyrim's combat/environments are okay, but I feel like the people in the world should've been way more interesting than they were. Oblivion's NPCs' behavior

, which we forgive 'cus it was kinda old. But come on, Skyrim should've been
so much later, right?

anyways if you liked Skyrim the point is Oblivion is still really good too and the graphics are good enough to me, and Morrowind's don't seem so bad either considering how good people say the game itself is

Super Mario 64, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Pokemon Gold/Silver, Undertale, Wario Land 3, Team Fortress 2, Minecraft, Imperishable Night, and Terraria gets a special mention as what I consider a perfect game! Don't know why we don't consider it a top favorite!

Probably because those are my favorite games. While we do share the same taste in video games to some extent, we don't necessarily enjoy the same things the same ways. I do love Terraria, but I never even thought of calling it a "favorite game" even though I've thought of Minecraft. But Lucilyn sees it as one of the games she's had the most fun playing with other people, that's why it's one of her favorites. She should probably try to make her own list instead of just reciting mine.

Okay! #1 Terraria because it's a perfect game 10/10 highly recommend, #2 Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild because the atmosphere in the game is so cool and there's so much to do and you can do it however and whenever you want, #3 Slime Rancher because it's just pure fun and cute with no real downsides, #4 Minecraft I guess, we literally have over 3000 hours in it from years ago so it seems old-and-tried or whatever, but so many of those hours were such good times with friends it's gotta be highly recommended by me too! Those are my favorites that I've actually played, and obviously I play a lotta other games too.

Here's a not-favorite game of mine I came here to post a vid of

Guaranteed to make you say WOAH! Unless you're actually good at Osu in which case I'm just embarrassed about 1:50

BTW that reminded me, in re: osu isn't fun, if you have the discipline and can let go of your online ranking, then jurt always play with nofail, was about 300% more fun for me that way, although you're on like another level of osu or smth so idk.

unfortunately the points (not really the ranking as much, just gauging progress by gaining PP) is part of why we've played the game so long. but I sure do wish this scoring system never existed

anyways, we stopped playing songs over and over and over (AND, overandoverandoverandoverandover) to get no-misses a long time ago, which helped a lot. Since we keep getting better it's okay that we don't get no-misses every time anymore. On lots of songs we can easily do stuff we couldn't in the past, yet sometimes even though we're more accurate we can't beat our old scores because we spent so long retrying them to get no-misses.. it's really dumb. The plan is to just play for fun until we eventually get good enough to do it all easily.

Also I'm playing Taiko a lot recently so that can be fun too, but you can tell when you're out of your league pretty immediately and it happens a lot

I'm playing the zelda game with the falling moon this month in 3D.

The whole moon thing is a huge stressor. It totally takes away the part of what makes zelda zelda.

The cyclical progression of Majora's Mask is a big part of what adds that sense of desperation though. The game wouldn't be the same if you could just do everything at your own pace, it'd take the impact (heh) out of the moon falling from the sky, and it'd also kill a lot of the sense of relief you get when you finally do stop the moon.

I need to stop buying Metroidvanias that last me less than 20 hours, I picked up Samus Returns and Steamworld Dig 2 and already stopped playing both of them. >.> At least Luna is okay with it, she knew when I picked up FF14 that it was a mistake because of how much of a distraction it proved to be (and a moneysink besides). At least she's willing to criticize my purchases instead of agreeing with everything I do or say?

My progress report

I wanted to buy Plague Inc. after rewatching the Game Grumps play it, but I was really on the fence since it's $15 and technically roughly every playthrough will have the exact same strategy with only slightly different circumstances. I decided to re-play Infectonator 2 instead (really.. not the same thing, but oh well) and then got a fortune cookie that said "Live better; spend less" and was like lolK

Oh yeah, LoLK is the abbreviation for Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom, ie Touhou 15... I tend to forget that.

Anyways yeah I tend to dislike singleplayer games in their entirety because they're so little content as far as playtime goes compared to multiplayer games, some of which are free. But Breath of the Wild is a perfect exception, it meets all of my requirements in a singleplayer game except freakin' cost: It's fun, it's got decent playtime and replayability, it's fun and there's a decent chance I'll need the console for the 5th Smash Bros. game. Highly recommend if you can find a way to play it. While it is an amazing game however you look at it, if the price (roughly $400 total) is too much for you, I say just go without. You'll be missing out, but it really is quite expensive. Especially when you have to buy another controller, which is $70 for the Pro Whatever controller, or like $80 for another set of Joycons (why??). I was really betting on there being a Smash 5 for the Switch at some point based on how well it's sold, otherwise it would've been too costly for me.

And we had a WiiU, but... BotW for the WiiU really is just inferior. It'll do if you're on a tight budget and somehow have a WiiU (possibly because you made the mistake of buying a WiiU, like I did), but if there's even a chance you'll be able to get a Switch some day, you'll just end up wasting $60 on Breath of the Wild again, or worse, not having it for the Switch. Performance is a bit lacking for the WiiU version, and it looks a lot less pleasing too. The Switch can play the dang game in higher quality than the WiiU in portable mode, whatever you call that.

By the way, in case anyone was wondering, the Nintendo Switch really is just the gamepad. That's it. Like the WiiU's gamepad or something, that's the entire console. That's it, for real, no more. Okay so, the controller part(s) of the Switch gamepad can slide off, and you can put them on a little plastic device (seems to have its own sensors though) to hold it more like a controller for playing on the TV instead. The Switch usually sits in a little stand that functions as both a charger and a way to connect to a TV, which is the only way in which it's a console. So there's a bit more to it than just the gamepad, but aside from having a larger screen or alternate controller, the entire console really is the gamepad and it has its own screen and decent battery life. Haven't personally tested the battery life but it's at least a few hours according to my brother. All in all, unlike the WiiU I'd say it's worth the cost. Neat little thing with at least one amazing game, two if you're a big fan of Splatoon, more if more come out (not a huge fan of things like Arms, but there are some other games for it..), and it's absolutely portable. You can indeed play Breath of the Wild on a plane without any loss of capability.

Again, I have to state that the portable mode of the Switch plays BotW in better quality than the WiiU, and having sold so well, will likely have some decent games in the future too. As an unsatisfied WiiU owner (Sm4sh was a big disappointment for me for reasons I won't get into), I have to make it clear the Switch is actually pretty nice. It does still need more games, but unlike the WiiU's Splatoon-and-that's-it-have-fun issue, the Switch launched with BotW AND it's got Splatoon 2 lol. And since it's sold so amazingly well there's no reason it won't get those games it deserves, while the WiiU was a little too meh and so never really got them.

I've been playing a lot of Taiko recently instead of normal Osu (it's an alternate game mode) and I'm getting pretty good at it!

[video=youtube]

I kind of prefer it, Osu is more fun when it's fun, but... Taiko is less consistently frustrating and actually doesn't tank your score if you miss a note once ever.

Also A Hat In Time is AMAZING! I haven't had time to play all the way through it yet but it's got huge potential to be my second favorite game after Terraria! I mean, maybe even better once it has multiplayer and mods (which are coming soon)? Anyways, $30 is a dang steal when normal "high quality" games cost $60, it's amazing amazing amazing!

It's like Mario Sunshine mixed with Banjo Kazooie, I guess, it's a 3D platformer... Controls super duper well and is a ton of fun and super cute though so it doesn't matter what type of game it is, just get it!
