I recently created a tulpa named Yudie last week, I would say I am fairly skilled in Qigong and energy manipulation therefore every single day after my Qigong practice when I'd be fully charged with energy, I would transfer some of this energy from myself to her through my hands (Similar to Reiki) in order to strengthen her and hasten her development.

So far, everything has been going great! She is exactly how I want her to be, her presence can be clearly felt, her form easily seen and she's starting to show some clear signs of sentience.

However, I have a few safety concerns which I hope some of you here can help me address.

I have searched the forum and the internet, but found only safety tips and warnings from the psychological and scientifically accepted perspective. Was wondering if there's anything I should be aware of from the metaphysical/occult perspective.

I read about how according to Tibetan tradition, Tulpa's gain independence once they become powerful enough or more developed and may betray/turn against their creators. Alexandra David Neel's account about how her tulpa went out of control in particular was pretty scary to say the least.

Are there any steps or precautions I should take in order to prevent this from happening? Or anything important things I should be aware of in order to safely continue my practice?

Thanks a lot!

Even though you said you don't want the scientific perspective, I have to say that David Alexandra Neel was kind of crazy. People seem to worship her for her research or something, but not me. Tulpas are a mental phenomenon, they are what you make of them, consciously or not. Tulpas don't just turn evil because why not, if one were to do so it would be because you unconsciously willed it to. No one here has a tulpa who wants to hurt people (aside from the occasional "Let me at that idiot!"), because we don't foster that kind of thought. It won't happen unless you think it will.

Honestly, I'm not sure what to say on the subject of metaphysical safety tips. I've done a lot of research on astral projection and psychic/mediumship, but I've never quite been able to connect that knowledge with tulpas. I just don't know where they fit in. Still, I don't believe anything but your own intentions are a danger in the tulpa creation process. On the contrary, I believe tulpas would be a strong source of positive energy should anything negative actually try to harm you. Reisen is capable of making me feel love even when I'm otherwise completely hopeless or scared, and from what I can tell that's exclusively a good thing.

Maybe someone else will have something, though.

Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn.

Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature.

My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.

Hearing that about Tulpa's and about how Reisen is able to make you feel better is actually really comforting. Indeed Yudie comforted me once (the first sign of her sentience actually) after an argument I had with someone. Guess I was being paranoid and worried that she might change the more developed she becomes or something. Guess I owe her an apology.

Well I can't say I know much about David Alexandra Neel, just read a couple of passages from her books. So I don't take her word as authority nor do I reject the scientific perspective. I just think that integrating both the metaphysical and scientific would be able to provide a more complete picture. And would like to listen to both perspectives if possible.

Lucilyn: Alexandra wasn't really crazy, she was probably pretty smart. But she forgot to keep in control of her thoughts and let her unconscious fears manifest in her tulpa. But I mean, she didn't have this forum to help her, so I understand! We just have a really good track record here of "People who believe as we teach them have almost no problems." Metaphysical stuff is more subjective, everyone seems to do their own thing. Because everyone has their own beliefs on the metaphysical nature of tulpas. But yeah you can see if you get others' opinions and if you like them!

We're sort of a "anything is possible, but I'm only gonna worry about what's plausible" system. Like, Lumi tried to do astral projection and stuff for a long time but never had even slight experiences with sleep paralysis let alone leaving his body, so he doesn't really consider it something he should care about. But he has a friend that says she 100% for sure has done it and he believes her. So like. Can't really give specific advice, you know. But we do know some stuff from his time as a New Age Spiritualist so we try to use that knowledge when people ask.

But I don't know anything metaphysical?? I don't see any reason to believe I'm more than I feel like I am, and I feel like I'm another person in our brain. IDK if souls exist or anything, but it seems like we'd all share one. I just worry about me. But everyone chooses their own beliefs.

Hi guys, plain text is just me now! We've each got our own accounts: me, Tewi, Flandre, and Lucilyn. We're Luminesce's tulpas.

Here's our "Ask Thread", and here's our Progress Report (You should be able to see all of our accounts on the second page if you want)

While I'm into metaphysical stuff i never ever went for a metaphysical approach on my tulpa. I really want to keep this one thing as scientific as possible.

However, Lumi is right, a tulpa simply has no reason to turn on you or betray you, unless you give it a good reason to do so. It is not like you would catch a demon to fullfill your wish or something, you create something new out of your own being, which wouldn't benefit at all from harming you.

Independence is one of the main targets to reach regarding a tulpa. You WANT them to act on their own. As someone who browsed /x/ a lot I have an Idea where you're getting these ideas from. There is really no reason to keep these ideas. But if you really would need to fear that your tulpa is betraying you, well just put in the reverse gear and drain the metaphysical energy you've given your tulpa again. I don't see this happen, though.

Lucilyn: Alexandra wasn't really crazy, she was probably pretty smart. But she forgot to keep in control of her thoughts and let her unconscious fears manifest in her tulpa.

The credibility of Alexandra David Neel's book, which is often held up as a primary source of tulpa literature, is questionable in many areas, particularly her testimony about yidams and tulpas. Few people in the tulpa community pause to consider this. She is famous for becoming a lama and her travels in Tibet, that part is not subject to question and is supported by witnesses and secondary sources. But some of her first hand accounts of what she claims to have experienced are rather wild to say the least and might have been greatly embellished.

It's possible a tulpa might go rogue, but I would hesitate to use Alexandra David Neel as a resource on this issue.

Let's change the word tulpa into the word pet. Why would a pet go rogue or turn on you? Either you chose the wrong pet or you neglected that pet. Make sense? I keep saying that the design phase is the most important part of the process. Why do you want a tulpa? How much time are you willing to put in? Is it a parlor trick or are you serious about it? There are no right or wrong answers, just answers that are right or wrong for you. I am talking about tulpas that are real, not just in the imagination. This is my position and I respect the other points of view. Good luck with your journey.

There's a few things and thank you for the amazing question.

If you are not careful in tulpa creation things may sneak in that you really don't want there.

In metaphysical thoughtform/servitor/yidam/golem/egregore creation practitioners usually attain a state of gnosis beforehand (For the purposes of this it is clearing and maintaining a clear mind). Usually the entity is very well thought out and possibly sigilized beforehand. Actual "energizing" of the entity may take many forms after that.

Entities are usually short lived or "stored" after their purpose has been fulfilled. Given we keep ours for life, being vigilant during creation should be deemed essential. A seed of discontent or insecurity could turn into a full blown personality disorder... in an entity that can't go to see a psychologist.

When something "sneaks" into the mix, perhaps a childhood fear, perhaps a somewhat concealed desire, it extrapolates and develops inside the entity and can cause something completely different to and even the opposite of the desired result.

I cringe every time I hear someone entertain the notion of a "walk in", "prototulpa" or "instatulpa". If an entity with malintent wanted an entrance vector to a human spirit, that would be a VERY easy thing to achieve with tulpamancers. Many would even encourage it.

Protect your tulpa, they are a key to your psyche.

Our biology is subject to that which is deemed "intrusive thoughts". These can be anything from random ideas to downright disturbing and violent bursts. They are normal for most people and such things should be "let go" with relative ease. Inevitably, this may lead some to create extremely bad tulpas if acted upon. Once again, walkins are a resoundingly bad idea.

Learn shielding and a banishing ritual. Also, maintain your tulpas energy or they will be forced to seek sustenance elsewhere. I also would not place a lot of credit in that which David Neel said.. some concepts seemed to originate with that book, that is not a good sign.

If you are after some reading material on maintaining such created entities, perhaps try here.
