None of Mistgod-Melian discussions in any thread of any kind are futile.  They are always profound descents into irreverent madness that insight powerful righteous anger.  Righteous anger stirs tulpa emotions and inspires tulpas to possess their hosts and do something about it all.  I know this from a good source.  We are doing our part for the greater good.  

 

I must admit though we expected more from our bit about comparing tulpamancers to Star Trek Vulcan's the other day.  All we got were people agreeing with it.

I certainly didn't peg every individual user to my conclusion: as you yourself quoted, I'd specifically addressed "...of the pretensions and worst aspects of each personality that bothers to keep showing up." There are individuals who have vacated and not returned for years, some lurking, others being quietly productive in their own ways. To clarify, the individuals who do not or have ceased contributing to these bizarre contentions and symptoms of over-all decay are omitted, yet they are (or were) a part of the entire population you'd accused me of pecking at. Further-more, I contend that such disagreements, hostility, and individual poisons are indeed typical: your frog touhou, of all people, had remarked of the entrenched resistance and lack of hospitality newer users are met with. It is an assertion I and at least a handful of other members can agree with, for what-ever it is worth.

 

I should also wish to disagree with your disposition concerning "teaching" and not having it out for others, yet for the sake of curbing any further grievances, I would opt to discuss the matters privately or not at all.

That comment about strength was referring to ALL conflict, not simply internet arguments.

As far as 4chan is concerned, what better place to go to understand hatred? How many people have said to themselves, "I wonder why *insert criminal here* did that."

I don't ask that question much anymore because I've engaged those sorts of people and learned what makes them tick.

Also, it's a fantastic way to challenge and evolve your defense mechanisms. Not to mention the perfect place to practice avoiding logical fallacies.

Like anything in life, you get as much out of it as you put in. Perhaps you don't personally gain much from the internet, but I do.

This is nothing new, it existed well before you were here. A subject gets brought up typically from the half-hearted "I mean, in case you're not trolling.." posts and we discuss it in more detail. No, the OP was not a good base for any discussion. But the quality of the discussion itself is utterly unrelated to the OP.

 

I don't understand what you guys don't get about that. I've seen terribly worded questions in broken english about a line long turn into large discussion threads with lots of interesting content, no one complains about those. In a forum that isn't "overly active" it serves to discuss anything of interest that comes up. If you think we've been discussing the OP this whole time...
