Dude, you are harshing my buzz. And I thought solipsism was hardcore. And here there is a person who believes themself a p-zombie. O.O

To quote one of my favorite Futurama episodes:

"For though we must always obey our programming with no deviation whatsoever, we choose to take satisfaction in the ritual. So, are we automatons? Yes. But we are magnificent automatons."

I am a magnificent p-zombie!

Why's it fun?

It reinforces the idea that everybody is the same. We all have our petty prejudices, we all have our collection of masks to wear.

It comforts me. It reminds me that every famous person, every rich person, is still just a person. Perhaps it makes those lofty goals seem more attainable.

****Sorry my posts are all over the place, I can't figure out how to reference multiple people in a single one.

Open "reply" in a new tab and copy/paste the quote text out. So click reply on a few people and add all the quote texts into one single post.

I would rather risk unfriendliness than stagnation. If everybody just peacefully stated their beliefs and respected others beliefs... what would we even talk about?

The weather? Conflict breeds strength. Comfort breeds weakness. That's what I believe.

I pose a large chunk of 4chan as a hard counter to this view.

Internet fights don't make you strong on their own. They may teach you a thing or two, like to not reply to certain messages since they will lead to nothing of worth. But, from my experience, what internet fights mainly do is make the fighters bitter, irritable, negative for little reason, etc. They provide skills, but not too many that would actually apply to real life. To the contrary, indulging in too much online conflict can act as a form of easy escapism, an addiction where the person flits here and there, asserting their superiority for fleeting senses of victory before going to the next source of ego-boost.

What's worse is when these folks get so used to and high on their Kool-aid that they become convinced that their behavior is some how teaching people a lesson, or showing others the harshness of life. It's utterly ridiculous: The internet is the safest, most consequence free place around. You can seriously say nearly anything you want and no harm will come to you. Where in real life are such setting available? Where in real life can you just call a random person a faggot and not expect some backlash? This internet warrior talk is some of the goofiest stuff I've seen.

I will admit, the above is something I've had on my mind for a while. Its been something annoying to me, and I needed to get it out in to words.

A magnificent p-zombie you may be. But I wonder. Do you think self determination, free will or control of the future are necessary to be aware?

Yeah, I like to write my responses individually without a ton of quote clutter so I write them as individual posts and then copy paste them together. Having five quotes on top of each other is what leads to mistakes like breaking the quotes or replying to the wrong person. But if that button is on mobile too then that's probably the way to do it.

@Solune:

Then we've met another divergence in our ideas, it seems.

I think it's absurd to entertain notions of one's "stagnation" within idle forum-talk. There is indeed a time and place for every one thing, yet I'm certain a farcical thread meets neither of these conditions. If you require a proof of this inescapable neoteny, the last several pages of mental masturbation here-in remain sufficient.

As for subjects keen for discussion, keep in mind this is a lounge thread - the weather would be an appropriate subject, he he. Amusing this thread mushroomed into loose threads of quasi-philosophical discussion and needless posturing: it's like a micro-cosm of the current tulpa.info, of the pretensions and worst aspects of each personality that bothers to keep showing up.

@Sock:

Amen!

This life of games and diligent trust,

it's the things we do and the things we must.

I'm now tired of being cussed,

so go sleep forever, end to dust.

And you keep showing up too to point it out to everyone, insinuating that you are somehow just ... above it all.  I don't want to get a warning from telling you to bite my butt, so I won't say it.  I will be nice.

You're free to leave. We aren't pushing our agendas to feed our egos, we're just discussing things. Communicating our ideas to others, receiving their input, giving ours. Some consider it fun, some consider it progress, some consider it work, some consider it pointless. You should not read pointless things. Everyone here chose to participate in whatever discussions they participate in, no one should be fighting over their ideas or beliefs. It helps to work out your own philosophies by studying and comparing others'.

We have someone in our own system who considers these things a waste of time. If you're like her, then just ignore it wherever you see it. You aren't required to give your input if you think it's a waste of your time.

...it's like a micro-cosm of the current tulpa.info...

Again with this recurring vague reference to some fantasy golden age of Tulpa Info that was pure and free of "pointless posturing," silly arguing and random discussions (such as discussions about masturbation and sex with your pony tulpa for instance).

Discussion about getting erections during possession or tulpaforcing.  Ahh yes the 2012 golden age of tulpa wisdom
