Having trouble "feeling" my tulpa? + How do I converse with my tulpa?

I've been working on Nick for a few weeks, if not months now, and I've noticed something. I don't intentionally do it, but I sometimes forget that he's with me. I do have a very short attention span and often forget things.

An example is when I go to school, when I'm walking into the building, I do imagine my tulpa walking beside me, but once I get in, I completely forget I have a tulpa.

Also since I've already posted, might as well put this here: I have been narrating for awhile, but unfortunately I don't remember if Nick has spoken to me on his own. I haven't had a full on conversation with him, either. I've been trying not to parrot, but I do feel guilty that he can't speak on his own yet. Whats the best way to get him doing things/speaking on his own?

Thanks.

Forgetting your tulpa is with you is pretty normal. The method I used to get around this was writing a 't' on my hand and changing my phone background to a picture of my tulpa. Little things that remind you of your tulpa are your best bet to getting around this.

If you're debating whether your tulpa is talking or you're parroting just assume it's your tulpa; sooner or later it will be. When tulpas first become vocal their voices tend to sound identical to the host's voice and feel the same. This goes away with time. As for the best way of getting your tulpas vocal - just keep on talking to them. The more you talk the faster they'll respond.

Aaah, I'm so glad I am finally past this phase. Trust me, do not doubt. Early on you'll feel crazy, like you're talking to yourself and then you'll start beating yourself up and feeling stupid. Don't. Even if your tulpa isn't responding, they CAN hear you. Your first response will quite likely not even be a vocal one.

The first response I got from my tulpa was an emotional one, just like a surge of happy that comes from somewhere other than "you", you'll know it. Almost like someone is smiling right next to you and you can feel it. After that words and sentences will soon follow.

I'm glad this thread came up, I really didn'[t know what was wrong with me, I always forget about mine. It makes me feel like such a jerk. What can I do to (permanently) alleviate this, for it is a real burden on both me and my tulpa. Thanks in advance.

Imagine a spot on your arm or something that your tulpa can make itch and that will be like a call button for you and your tulpa. Alternatively, imagine a wristband or something for them to "tug".

Use question marks and bold questions when asking, that's one way.

There should be a thread about tips to remember your tulpas. You can write down your tulpa's name in places you use often (books, hands) and use wallpapers of your tulpa's base (if you use a form that is common, that is) on your phones/computers. Even if you don't draw, you print off images of your tulpa's base (once again, if this applies) and trace them as a thing to do when you have time. Set up reminders at regular intervals if you want, as well as at certain times (lunch, in between periods or times when you get your break if you work. Try to keep all this safe from prying eyes, and ALWAYS think of something in case you are discovered. Let's say someone is wondering why you have pictures of:

Pony: "I'm tracing these for a friend"

TF2 Medic: "I like Team Fortress 2"

Absol (Pokémon): "I like pokemon, and this is my favourite one"

Homestuck Character: *Same thing as above, but change pokemon to Homestuck*

Just change that depending on your situation. Just make sure it seems legit,, not like "Oh, I have pictures of Boxxy because I like what she looks like", since that sounds like you watch porn for the plot. Instead say "Oh, that's who this is? I didn't know, I just saw a picture of her someone and wanted to do a portrait".

This is good, and I agree there should be a thread. I will try all of these out and see how it goes.

I kind of just draw it anyways no matter who sees, mostly because my close friends already know about her. If someone who doesn't know about it asks, I'll simply say "None of your business," as 90% of the people who would ask me that in the first place are people I don't care for.

An idea recently popped into my head recently; why not get my ears pierced as a 'commitment' to my tulpa? Maybe getting a tattoo or some other body modification could help you remind you of your tulpa.

Just a crazy thought.

If you really want to I suppose there's nothing wrong with it. I don't want to speak for everyone but I can't imagine such a thing being necessary for most tulpamancers. But I do find it a sweet sentiment (though to some, perhaps an extreme one.)

In terms of a remembering mechanism, after training some focus it might not necessary, but in theory could be very useful. In theory. If someone is does an experiment i wouldn't mind reading about it.
