Lacquer May 4, 2013 May 4, 2013 >part of the host learning experience But what about people who aren't making a tulpa for escapism or related reasons? Or do you just mean that it's not something to be expressly avoided if it is a part of the host's motivation-thing?

Or do you just mean that it's not something to be expressly avoided if it is a part of the host's motivation-thing? Escapism as a motivation, I think it's perfectly valid. And i would like to add that no matter the reason or the end goal, Creating a tulpa is a great learning experience for the host, even if it's not always pleasant. This is all honestly still new, and am curious to see what will happen in the coming years to the hosts/tulpas in this site. pix: Link Diary: http://ponystasha.tumblr.com Koomer.
Lacquer May 4, 2013 May 4, 2013 Okay, I was just a bit confused by the wording. Tulpamaking is a learning experience for the host, whether or not it involves escapism, and it is perfectly fine for escapism to be a motivation and perfectly fine for it to not be. Glad that's settled.
Sands May 4, 2013 May 4, 2013 Escapism is not a valid motivation, that's disgusting on so many different levels. The THE SUBCONCIOUS ochinchin occultists frt.sys (except Roswell because he doesn't want to be a part of it)

Kiahdaj May 4, 2013 May 4, 2013 Escapism is not a valid motivation, that's disgusting on so many different levels. I completely agree. I just wasn't saying anything because I think I have some kind of personal bias against those kinds of people, so I figured I'd go too far. But yes. "If this can be avoided, it should. If it can't, then it would be better if it could be. If it happened and you're thinking back to it, try and think back further. Try not to avoid it with your mind. If any of this is possible, it may be helpful. If not, it won't be."
Chupi May 4, 2013 May 4, 2013 I agree that pure escapism as the reason for making a tulpa is not good, but I don't see anything wrong with some escapism when used properly. Permanently abandoning reality probably isn't such a great thing to do. But leaving it temporarily now and then to cool down from the stresses of everyday life can be helpful. It's nothing new either -- stories, books, movies, games, vacations, all serve as a diversion from reality, a break from the day-to-day grind. And if you and your tulpa are happy switching for a bit now and then to give them a taste of real life first-hand while you get a break from it all, go right ahead, I see nothing wrong with that. Heck, unless you try to use it to increase work done, it'll probably reduce your stress levels, which in turn lowers blood pressure and reduces risk of heart attack; not to mention simply improving your quality of life. However, even if you start your tulpa for the wrong reasons, you'll most likely discover so much more along the way. And quite likely those who start their tulpa for the wrong reasons are those who most need the other things that tulpae have to offer. But that's not what we talked about. We talked about it being a reason for creating a tupper. It shouldn't even be a reason. It might come later, but it should never be a reason, much less the reason to make a tupper. Lacquer May 5, 2013 May 5, 2013 From what I've heard, a tulpa becomes a mental disorder at the point is adversely affects you, and by the standards psychologists use, escapism is adversely affecting you.

How is it adversely affecting you if all switching remains voluntary, both of you enjoy it, and it doesn't hurt your productivity or relationships with others?
