left blank August 27, 2013 Share August 27, 2013 http://community.tulpa.info/thread-general-music-thread?highlight=music Not sure if this is the exact same thing as you were aiming for. Not even close, but I applaud your efforts. I did not intend to create a free-for-all, off-topic thread about unrelated musical tastes or random songs. As I clearly stated in the original post, I'm aware that the forum already hosts dozens of topics about music, especially in regards to 'forcing'. This thread, which I have unambiguously titled "Tunes About Tulpas," is meant to be the melodious counterpart to the thread about other media portrayal of 'tulpas'. What I'm looking to accomplish here is to create a sort of forum repository for songs that contain lyrical content which could be easily interpreted as relating to 'tulpa,' or/and the paracosms ("wonderlands") in which they reside. I have a couple more entries. Before I discovered that there was a community interested in creating adult imaginary companions, I had several songs that I felt described, in part or in whole, the experience I was having with a self-induced, sentient 'phantom'. Both links specifically remind me of the doubt, confusion, despair and joy that often accompany the 'tulpa' process and experience. Simian - You Set Off My Brain [video=youtube] I don't believe that I'm here when I know that I'm there Nothing they say will convince 'cause I know I am there Back of my mind there is fear that you're not really there I won't say what you are not, so just wait — don't despair You set off my brain End of the day is a time when location conveys I don't know what they would think if they knew of our play Conventions exclude from the ties that combine and replace Replace me again, take it back to the time... You set off my brain Tipper - Dissolve (Out) [video=youtube] Yes, you are The nothing Only just a thought Occupy your space And that's enough Particles Are all you ever were Always miss the point (point)... It's time to leave, Time to leave a solid state again (state again) It's time to leave, Time to leave a solid state again Contemplate surroundings Run into a wall Backwards to go forwards And so we're told Got no definition here Makes your mind Turn until it's old Reality has got a heavy hold It's time to leave, Time to leave a solid state again (state again) It's time to leave, Time to leave a solid state again... left blank August 28, 2013 Share August 28, 2013 Nirvana - Lithium? I was thinking about it earlier today. Sounds like some people here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKfDaKzk3B8 Sorry, Shui - forgot to acknowledge your post after all of the other things. I appreciate the addition! Although the song definitely doesn't portray a situation which directly relates to 'tulpas,' I agree that the lyrics do seem to jibe with some of the more desperate posts I've seen on here. I'm actually surprised there haven't been more suggestions. My genres are somewhat limited to a spectrum of heady electronic, and I'm betting there have to be a plethora of relevant songs in the various rock and metal subgenres. Shui August 28, 2013 Share August 28, 2013 Yeah, I'm not really a musical person. I don't mind music, but I don't listen to it, so my knowledge of songs is quite limited. shalkek August 28, 2013 Share August 28, 2013 Yeah, I'm not really a musical person. I don't mind music, but I don't listen to it, so my knowledge of songs is quite limited. That's something new. I never thought there were people who don't listen to music. Sort of hard to imagine life without it for me. SkyeWint August 29, 2013 Share August 29, 2013 Posting this is practically obligatory, seeing as I made it with tulpa creation in mind, along with Winter's experience before I started consciously and knowingly forcing. http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/544730 If you, like me, think is is unfair for Pleeb to pay all the site costs alone, please consider making a private grant to tulpa.info >Resig if you agree! left blank August 30, 2013 Share August 30, 2013 That's something new. I never thought there were people who don't listen to music. Sort of hard to imagine life without it for me. I find more people that don't connect strongly to music than those who do. The way my brain operates makes it difficult for me to understand a life unaccompanied by ever-present melodies. O, the wonders of 'neurodiversity' (hah-haaah, buzzwords!). Yes, the vagueness of that Pixies song, and its relation to a similar dissociative theme, makes it a great candidate. Thank you! Posting this is practically obligatory, seeing as I made it with tulpa creation in mind, along with Winter's experience before I started consciously and knowingly forcing. http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/544730 FANTASTIC, Skye. Thank you for sharing this. Your voice (I love your register) and choice of genre both reminded me of a song I associated with my 'tulpa' for the longest time. In my case, the lyrics were sung from the perspective of my already fully (and frighteningly) sentient thoughtform in answer to the doubts and turmoil you seem to address in your song. I would have forgotten had you not posted that! It's not quite worthy of being included in the actual list, but it's if ever you're curious. On second thought — and listen — I think I'll include the Trifonic track for ease of play... Trifonic - Good Enough [video=youtube] I will be here when you need me by your side I will be here once the thrill is gone I will be here when everything is just right I will be here after you move on I'm a rock in the ocean And you, you are the tide You know I am going nowhere I'm just waiting here for the water to rise I don't know how the story ends And I don't want to know, so if you do Don't tell me Let's pretend we write it as we go Promises are so hard to keep We say things we don't mean You're here for now is good enough for me I will be here when you need me by your side I will be here once the thrill is gone I will be here when everything is just right I will be here after you move on... ...and add a couple more with the caveat that they may only be of personal relevance. 'Vespertine,' if I remember correctly, was explained by Björk as being an album of introversion, internal exploration and personal fantasy. To me, 'Hidden Place,' reflects a daydream foray into a very sensual paracosm where she's able to call upon an unreal man who, although unable to truly touch her, provides sanctuary and bliss. (This one's great for the girls in the audience.) Björk - Hidden Place [video=youtube]http://youtu.be/olvfL4iKMWE Through the warmthest cord of care Your love was sent to me I'm not sure of what to do with it Or where to put it I'm so close to tear And so close to Simply calling you up I'm simply suggesting We go to that hidden place That we go to the hidden place... Now, I have Been slightly shy And I can smell a pinch of hope To almost have allowed once fingers To stroke The fingers I was given to touch with But careful, careful There lies my passion, hidden There lies my love I'll hide it under a blanket Lull it to sleep I'll keep it in a hidden place Keep it in a hidden place He's the beautifullest Fragilest Still strong Dark and divine And the littleness of his movements Hides himself He invents a charm that makes him invisible Hides in the air Can I hide there too? Hide in the air of him Seek solace Sanctuary In that hidden place In a hidden place... We'll stay in a hidden place... We'll live in a hidden place... We'll be in a hidden place In a hidden place
left blank September 10, 2013 Share September 10, 2013 I have a few more contributions thanks to friends: Evanescence - Imaginary [video=youtube] I linger in the doorway Of alarm clock screaming monsters calling my name Let me stay Where the wind will whisper to me Where the raindrops as they're falling tell a story In my field of paper flowers And candy clouds of lullaby I lie inside myself for hours And watch my purple sky fly over me (More lyrics here.) Andrea Parker - Some Other Level [video=youtube]http://youtu.be/VhUZG_z88hA No place like here: On some other level Imaginary time Another place of mine Playing hide and seek In the palm of your hand Reality you never Quite grasp or understand What lies ahead? Hard to define The movement and change Of suspended time Moving forward To cover different ground Postcards from another planet Waiting to be found Sound experience Everything I see, Impossible to resist A journey of discovery No place like here: On some other level Imaginary time Another place of mine And I can't speak for anyone else, but this track is a good representation of how my 'tulpa' experiences have happened since childhood. Hell, it would be right at home with my old cassette recordings. I'm forever haunted by The Enchanting Wizard of Rhythm: Mandrill - Universal Rhythms [video=youtube]http://youtu.be/ph01B-hDmtc Child: Who are you? Wizard of Rhythm: I'm the Enchanting Wizard of Rhythm. Child: Why did you come here? Wizard of Rhythm: I came here to tell you about the rhythms of the Universe. Child: Would you please tell me about them? Wizard of Rhythm: When rhythms fall through a cosmic forest they explode into colorful rain drops of time. Like metallic butterflies, they flap their wings, And embrace rhythms of hope. Hoping that all, even wishing that all, would remain free. Free, like rhythms of water bathing within rhythms of light, And eventually evolving into a rainbow of life. With colors of orange, yellow, and green, They reflect all rhythms of dreams, And start simple rhythms of truth that make babies cry for more. And rhythms of sound blend with rhythms with space, Which create rhythms of joy and rhythms of sorrow, That become one, In your year of tomorrow. Tomorrow is when rhythms of voices are singing of freedom, As if pouring into the Universe all the rhythms of being. As higher levels of consciousness demand rhythms of peacefulness. And rhythms of peace are rhythms speaking softly of love, With tempos rising and falling like spiritual blood That ignites into shining stars, Then explodes into rhythms of giant gongs, Which give the rhythms of birth from Her Universal womb. Our master musicians speak rhythms of joy, And galaxies dance to the rhythm of a newborn boy Whose heart is in tempo with the rhythms of the Universe. "Wow, that was strange. ...What?" Nobillis September 10, 2013 Share September 10, 2013 Kevin says: "Little Talks" has always made me think of tulpas. Of Monsters and Men - Little Talks [video=youtube] Hey! Hey! Hey! I don't like walking around this old and empty house So hold my hand, I'll walk with you, my dear [Video version:] The stairs creak as you sleep, it's keeping me awake [Live version:] The stairs creak as I sleep, it's keeping me awake It's the house telling you to close your eyes And some days I can't even trust myself It's killing me to see you this way 'Cause though the truth may vary This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore Hey! Hey! Hey! There's an old voice in my head that's holding me back Well tell her that I miss our little talks Soon it will be over and buried with our past We used to play outside when we were young And full of life and full of love. [Video version:] Some days I don't know if I am wrong or right [Live version:] Some days I feel like I'm wrong when I'm right Your mind is playing tricks on you, my dear 'Cause though the truth may vary This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore Hey! Don't listen to a word I say Hey! The screams all sound the same Hey! Though the truth may vary This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore Hey! Hey! You're gone, gone, gone away I watched you disappear All that's left is the ghost of you. Now we're torn, torn, torn apart, There's nothing we can do Just let me go we'll meet again soon Now wait, wait, wait for me Please hang around I'll see you when I fall asleep Hey! Don't listen to a word I say Hey! The screams all sound the same Hey! Though the truth may vary This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore Don't listen to a word I say Hey! The screams all sound the same Hey! Though the truth may vary This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore Though the truth may vary This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore Though the truth may vary This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore Please consider supporting Tulpa.info.
