Hello, I've decided to make a tulpa, have everything planned out for her, but when I try to visualize her or anything else, I draw a complete blank.

I've tried the describe her methods, the use all 5 senses methods, and various other guides, but still nothing :,

I don't mind starting off with bad skills, I'm willing to grind and refine my skills, if only I had something basic to start with.

However, when I read descriptions of things, I can sort of see what I'm reading about, but I've tried writing down my tulpa's features, but I've never really seen her so there isn't much to go by

Any help would be fantastic!

You're not actually supposed to see her; that's called imposition. What you should see is exactly how you "see" when reading. You should just "see" her in your imagination, but not literally see her.

Hello!

Fellow newbie here, I think looking through a bunch of pictures of women/animal/pony/whatever (wow, that sounded really wrong in my mind) would help you visualize your tulpa, just scroll through google images for example, your brain will remember for you and when you sit/lay down for your session, your brain will build an image easier of what you wish to see.

Same for voices, I've just listened to songs, voice actors, ect... to get a feel of what I think my tulpa sounds like.

My Tulpa: Miyuki (Gidellom)

Not much progress, I'm in no rush though, we got all the time in the world.

Like other people have stated, getting used to collecting references and such can be a useful way for making progress when you feel you have nothing at your disposal. And don't worry too much about things like identity crisis and all that because I'm pretty sure a lot of people use preexisting concepts as a transient/temporary mode of progress.

It's what I did with Eva, and the same is going for Ada as well. Your mind, whatever it does, is going to correlate and connect with the totality of everything you've committed to this (well, it's implied that the mind would do that). Combined with all sorts of self-referencing systems and other abilities we naturally have, don't be too shy to collect references, experiment, talk things out with your tulpa, and compromise as you go. You have a course of action, you've clearly stated you're willing to go through personal development, so now all you have to do is go through the motions and get used to trial and error on your journey.

Yeah, I miss worded that, I know I won't be able to see her in real life or on my eyelids till imposition is done.

I have collected about 150 pictures today of her form, I have an idea of what she's going to look like and have the other 4 senses laid out too. I also did some lucid dreaming in a nap, and have a good idea of her

Just the issue I'm having is I don't have a base to really start with. Even a simple object, number, a ball of energy I can't visualize at all. Like I said I'm totally committed to finishing her and working hard!

I'm not sure how much guidance you've read already, but I'll give you a few things I usually find are helpful.

Like everyone above me said or implied, it's much easier to visualise something you've seen before. So having a 'base' of something abstract or too simple might not be the best thing to start with. You'd be better of, say, looking at a desk lamp and then closing your eyes and recalling what that lamp looked like. It's the same idea with reference pictures.

Another thing is that it's easier to visualise something that's moving. Even if it comes down to only seeing the motion and not the object, you might find that imagining a moving object of some sort will help visualisation.

If you're struggling with closed-eye visualisation then try open-eye, like a daydream. Some people find it a lot easier. Plus you can practice anywhere, any time.

Anyway, some people don't visualise at all but since you have lucid dreams you're bound not to be one of them. In that case it's just practice.

ITT: A bunch of people who can visualize who don't understand that some people can not inherently visualize. I know exactly what you're going through.

For those of you who can visualize it's incredibly hard to describe to you what it's like not being able to, but basically think about it like this: When we close our eyes, we effectively become blind. What does this mean? We don't 'see' anything in our minds eye. No I'm not talking about seeing things in our literal eyes while trying to force, I'm saying we literally can't imagine things in colors or vision, it just doesn't come naturally to us. I never actually realized I was like this until I started forcing, I always though picturing something in your mind was some sort of figure of speech.

As for what you can do about this Lange, I've known several people to have this probably and can only says there's no one right way to solve it, my personal experience would say that practicing drawing can be the huge help. I've been on and off of practicing for almost a year now, but the only time I have ever made progress has been after I started hand drawing my tulpas form. It was an interesting experience just lying down to force and suddenly getting a flash of an image or color for the first time, shortly after I switch to digital drawing and lost the progress however, so I would suspect it was something about drawing from a reference/tracing didn't stimulate the brain correctly. I'm also an avid reader so I don't suspect it does much, at least for me.

This is seriously spot on, and couldn't have worded it better myself.

I have looked at all the guides, even some off site ones like the self help books that have you visualize.

I can safely say, after about 8 days of trying various things, nothing has seemed to work.

I'm not giving up by any means, but everything I've read pretty much has you able to see something, be it basic pictures or whatever.

Drawing is something I will look into though.
