First, I'd like to say that I can understand where you're coming from--not from tulpamancy, but from lucid dreaming. I tried for over a year to have my first lucid dream, and then when I stopped I had it, and when I picked back up and lost it. The cycle just continues. For five years now, out of the thousands of dreams I can remember (and I do remember at least one dream every night, on average), only twenty-two of them have been lucid.

What I'm trying to say is that I understand how disappointing and frustrating it is when you put so much effort and time into something, only to get no results.

About a year ago I finally found what everyone had been telling me--my "switch" to attain lucidity: take naps. No matter what, every time I took a nap, if I had been thinking of lucid dreaming during the day, I'd get lucky those couple of hours or so. (Unfortunately even that doesn't end happy. I'm one of those people that cannot take naps unless they're sick. ^_^;

Basically, up until I found my "switch," I had been doing the same thing over and over, whilst occasionally using other methods on the side. Does that sound familiar to you? It should.

I used extensive and frequent narration for the best part of 16-17 months. That is what I've been doing for so long, along with a few separate methods alongside.

I think your problem is that these separate methods aren't your primary methods. Many agree that narration is no way to go if you want a fast-developed tulpa. Of course, narration isn't bad, and is certainly encouraged, but you're bound to have a lot more success with something like active forcing.
