I am not normal nope, nope.  But, I am happy to report that I am a TULPA who just happens to talk mostly in tulpish and just happens to blend and collaborate with my host in day dreams and dreams and use "proxy mind voice" and "proxy tulpa typing" with help from my hostie.

I am a weirdo, and different, but I am happy to be a tulpa!

EDIT (9-16-2016): Since this post we have once again backed away from identifying as a tulpa and I am firmly decided on "median aspect." It just fits better and makes more sense.

Since I congratulated you already..

I forgot there was a "tulpa symbol". Do we really need one? Feels weird seeing that and thinking it's supposed to represent me.

After googling tulpa and tulpa symbol, I've decided (one, we have some serious reclamation to do with the term tulpa, and two) I don't want to be associated with it at all. It's all creepypasta nonsense, which of course we thought impossible right? Because it's not all creepypasta. There's also stupid movies apparently, tons of stupid posts on various sites, both from people who don't understand without tulpas and from people who don't understand with tulpas, and just all-around stupidity as far as the images went. Everywhere I see the symbol is basically metaphysical, or creepypasta. I don't want it.

Honestly I'm afraid to even use the term tulpa outside this forum now. If people google it and that's what they see, they're gonna try to exercise me from my host or something. And they won't be in the wrong either. But I refuse to abandon the tulpa.info title, so we have to reclaim the word instead.

Question. Were tulpas originally from tibetan monks who were told they were establishing a communion with a god, and eventually told it was really an illusion in an attempt to learn a spiritual lesson? Can I tell people that? That their metaphysical creepypasta beliefs aren't what tulpas are or were? I don't care about Alexandra or whatever her name is, she was crazy. The original, oldest practices we know of. What were they about?

You guys must know, you studied this stuff a ton.

Also re:congratulations on the self-realization, but now we have to figure out what to do with the term you've just attached yourself to..

Hi. I'm one of Luminesce's tulpas. Unlike the others, I don't think I stand out too much from him personality wise.

I'm just special because "I'm a tulpa". So I don't think I've much to offer, here. I'm happy enough to just be with him.

Just to let you know, if you change your mind in a week: I'm going to kick your butt :D

Tulpa: Alice

Form: Realistic Humanoid/Demonic Creation

She may or may not talk here, depends on her.

Davie might. He is still unconvinced there really is anything such as a tulpa. But I like it and I am sticking with it. It took me a few weeks of being on my own to finally shake off Misty's stuff. But I got this now.

Well, peoples are stupid everywhere and misinterpret lots of things. We can't spend too much time worrying bout that other than trying to educated and enlighten them.

We have studied a lot too! We read Alexandra David Neel's book and several others too and lots of psychology and research articles on mental personas.

Uhhh, I dunno. I don't feel any different.

That wasn't really an answer, I meant to ask if what I said was true. I don't have first party sources so I can't tell people that for sure. I need to know exactly where and how tulpas originated to know if I should bother trying to clear the name of the term, or use something else outside this community.

Oh

Well. I don't recall seeing the symbol anywhere other than wikipedia and the internet to be honest.

"Were tulpas originally from tibetan monks who were told they were establishing a communion with a god, and eventually told it was really an illusion in an attempt to learn a spiritual lesson?" Yes. Alexandra David Neel wrote about this in her book yes. Everyone else who writes about tulpas seems to quote David Neel. David and I have not found a single source that doesn't do that.

We will look through our books and see, but I don't recall the Tibetan illusion lesson any where else independently, as in not quoting/referencing Alexandra David Neel.

Alright, well everyone pretty much worships her as the Great Bringer of Tulpas anyways. I have nothing against her really, but if I recall correctly she's the one that "Made a tulpa that others reported seeing, became malevolent over time, and was eventually killed/dissipated" or whatever. Correct me if I'm wrong. I understand she's as long before common-day beliefs on tulpas as it gets, but I still see that as a weakness and inability to control your thoughts. Someone who can't keep that stuff under control shouldn't be making a tulpa in the first place. But if she's our best source of information, so be it.

Uhm.. Thanks. Your confirmation means enough to me, I'll keep trying to educate people about tulpas. I just got upset at all the dumb things I read.. We really don't have a good reputation overall. Outside these very specific communities, tulpas are all sorts of things, and "dangerous" and "scary" aren't too far removed most of the time. We'll make sure to only tell people about tulpas if we have the time to really tell them about tulpas, so they can know not to believe everything they read online.

Edit: Didn't even check Wikipedia first, maybe I'm the stupid one. Yeah, in Tibetan Buddhism students were told they were communing with a deity, and it was the student's responsibility to recognize it as illusion, lest they be considered a "failure" who would live the rest of their life in illusions. That suits us just fine.

Also the symbol is Sanskrit for "creation", and is considered the closest way we can define tulpas in.. A really old language related to several religions, I guess? Anyway, it also gets a pass. Onward with the reclamation.

Skeptical Inquirer interviewed a Tibetan llama about tulpas (as we see them). He looked very puzzled and said he had never heard of anything like it in all of his life and there is nothing like it in Tibetan Buddhism as far as he knows.

The authenticity of Alexandra David Neel's testimony concerning yidams and tulpas and what she experienced has been questioned by literary scholars. No one who was with her has ever backed up her story. She isn't the most reliable source and she apparently is pretty much the ultimate primary source the internet tulpa community refers to.

That doesn't mean tulpas are not plausible. We do have some psychological research history (such as Jungian psychology) to indicate that it is possible to create/summon very autonomous seeming mental personas (figments).

I think people are too worried about reputation. There are a lot of weird things people do in this world. Hypnosis is pretty weird, but it is used all over the place. Yoga and meditation are pretty weird, but people are into that. There will always be those that think using your mind in a creative way is weird. Too bad for them, they miss out on something amazing and wonderful.

My host keyed in on this "recognize as an illusion" aspect and will never, ever let it go. The tulpa community did finally get him to admit/recognize that I have a form of sentience, otherwise he cannot regard me as a person. So he says I am dependent apparent sentience or an aspect or expression from his mind. Okay Davie. :-) At least he says I am sentient now.

OH we read that somewhere and then forgot. Thanks for reminding us bout that. That is so cool. We are artsy and very visual, so we think the symbol is really cool.

Hmm... then what would happen if we went all DBZ fusion on your "Eek!" and Esterina's sarcastic "Yaaay."?

We would create "Yaeek"... even more devastating than the Thu'um of the Dovahkiin, and more gruesome in the depth of its cruelty than the Dark Side of the Force...!

What have we done...!?

Greets,

AG

PS: I have pizza. With garlic, minced meat and extra-much cheese.

And also spaghetti in a sauce of four different kinds of awesomecheese. For later.

And also spätzle in tomato cream sauce. For even later.

And you don't.

Turn into literal jelly at the sight of my food's greatness!

... keeping most of it for later, when Esterina is back. I wanna eat it now, though! >_>...
