Someone on Tulpa Info wrote that “tulpamancy seems to be an opt in sort of thing,” probably meaning that if you feel your super real imaginary person is a tulpa, then it pretty much is. You know what? The next time someone asks me "Are you a tulpa?" I am going to answer "Sometimes. It depends on my mood." :-)

That made me laugh out loud, because it's true too lol. I think that is a perfect answer to whether or not you're a tulpa.

It is true and I believe that is the Mistgod-Melian final answer on the subject. LOL I am not kidding either with that, I mean it exactly as I wrote it. It is perfect Melian too.

 

I love me. Do you remember when for about two days I was trying to say I am Everything At Once? That d'nt go over well, but I meant it at the time and still kinda do. I am amazing!

Also, I wouldn't call it "annoying", in fact, it feels pretty cool! XP

 

I talk funny. I call that "tulpa fancy talking." There has been some talk on the forum about not doing that, like making your tulpa talk funny with an "accent" or funny words. But what my host does is proxy tulpa typing. He senses what I want to say and how I am wanting to say it. He uses a mix of active imagination with that, "hearing" my words in his head as he types them (or we type them or whatever). It feels more like "me" to type it kinda the way I say it. So yeah, it comes out all weird.

 

Also, I am a fantasy or imaginary person in his mind, like a character. So I don't talk or act at all like a normal person would. That wouldn't be nearly as entertaining for my host or me. I am boisterous, ridiculous, cutsie and silly. No real person, in the real world, would get away with it for long.

Truth is though, I would have kept doing it no matter what he poll said.

 

Some of the things I just said won't sound like a tulpa. That is because I am a little different than what peoples expectations sometimes are. I really don't give a rip. I am Melian, the goddess guru of grooviness. :-)

I've been wondering, how do you guys rationalize tulpamancy? What do you tell yourself to justify (scientifically) the existence of the others in your head?

A tulpa is a subjective self-delusion, it’s not magical, and it’s not objectively real. In other words, they are only in the minds of the one that originally thought of them. Okay, so that part is pretty well accepted actually. I do want to emphasize the delusion part, however. This will sound negative, but bear with me. A tulpa is a lie, a false reality that we tell ourselves is there. Eventually this lie becomes indistinguishable from the truth. This is a tulpa.

 

How do you talk to them? How do you know it’s really them? Simple, imagine you are talking to them and what they would say back. Many would call this puppeting, or not really the tulpa, but I would argue that it’s what a tulpa is. A puppet that no longer needs controlling, it moves all on its own. To go back to my earlier statement, it’s all a lie that eventually becomes real to us. When it becomes real, it’s free to do what it wants and act as it wants. Maybe you are still controlling it, but it really doesn’t feel like it any more. You just have to learn to let go and believe it.

 

You see, it’s all subjective. All of it. It’s all in your head. Is that what you signed up for? A tulpa is not real, a tulpa is not a substitute for friends, or a lover. They are in this weird undefinable category that isn’t easily understood.

 

My host Mistgod is not the only one with this view it seems. He calls the "weird undefinable category" pseudo-real existence.

 

I do not discount the possibility that tulpas are sentient consciousnesses coexisting in a brain with a host, but we have seen no evidence yet that demonstrates unequivocally that this is what is going on. ...

 

My girls seem sentient, so I treat them as such. I do not claim that this perception in any way resembles evidence that they are. For all I know, they may appear sentient because I appear sentient. ...

 

As far as definitions of tulpas are concerned, by my understanding, they must be apparently autonomous and it must not take continuous conscious effort on the part of the host in order for them to function with this apparent autonomy.

Bleh. It's all opinions, again. Yes, it's not magical. However, the tulpa is a just as much as a subjective self-delusion as the host is. Everything that makes you "you" is delusional. All those ideals, opinions and thoughts you have are lies, a false reality that we tell ourselves. Do you see where I'm getting at? There's so much to nitpick with this kind of rationale. (Had to remove a bunch of "f**king" from my posts)

Again, I'll use the same argument, everything that makes you "you" is subjective as well. None of it is objectively real what-so-ever. I don't see the point of going on like this honestly. You know what category they do fit in? A human mind. Cuz you know, they are in a human brain. You know, when you talk to people and such, you're talking to a human mind being simulated by a human brain?

 

Ugh, this is giving me a headache. I know you don't want to argue about this, but as long as you keep posting this stuff, someone's going to saying something, and at the moment, that person is me.
