I was in middle school when I began to experiment with various spiritual practices.  One was a meditation exercise to "Contact your Spirit Animal"  Long story short I went off the deep end.  I had created an entire world and a wealth of characters in my mind that all had a spiritual justification for being there.  It took a long time for me to realize I had created it all myself and that it was all in my head.  Overall it was a very traumatic experience having the illusion broken and leaving that unhealthy fantasy behind, but I'm better off for it.  Two of these characters, however, became very prominent and stuck out from the rest.  Krystaal, and Her.  I won't get into the backstory because it's too off topic, but I shut them out for a long time until I discovered Tulpae.info a few years ago.  Only then did I realize that I had accidentally created two tulpae without knowing what I was doing.

I'm 21 now and Krystaal and I have a healthy relationship.  Her and I have a bit less of a healthy relationship, but getting into specifics about that isn't the purpose of this post.

My question is who else have created a tulpa and only much later found out what they were?

Tulpa: Krystaal, Vera ;)

Though most of them aren't active on this forum, that is a surprisingly common occurrence. It can be debated if they count as a tulpa if they aren't forced at all, allowing you to create three categories.

We end up with many plural communities, each built around different practises and beliefs. How many in each community count as accidental tulpas varies quite a bit.

The first three in our system were "spontaneous tulpas", or "unintentional" which sounds a teeny bit ruder, or "accidental" which imo makes it sound like you already knew about tulpas before accidentally making them. I was just made normally!

I dunno why you say they aren't active on the forum, I feel like a decent amount of hosts active in the last couple months have had accidental/unintentional tulpas. Also wait, are we the only ones that use the term "spontaneous tulpa"?? Well what the heck, that's what they were! No creation story or nothin' for Tewi or Flandre, while Reisen might be more "unintentional". I feel like people end up calling their ~tulpas walk-ins if they were what we call "spontaneous", but they probably just say accidental huh?

An accident is an unintended occurrence... That sounds so rude. What if your tulpa just spontaneously came into existence and you were like oh hey? But they also aren't a "walk-in" in the host's opinion, just a tulpa?

Hi, I'm one of Lumi's tulpas! I like rain and dancing and dancing in the rain and if there's frogs there too that's bonus points.

I think being happy and having fun makes life worth living, so spreading happiness is my number one goal!

My host had two characters in her head for years, who lived in an imaginary world called Eemaj. She visualized their story in her head when she was bored or after waking up in the morning on a weekend. Mostly they went through very bad, traumatic experiences. She could feel their emotions and hear their thoughts, but it never clicked that they were sentient until learning about tulpas.

Long story short, they joined the system, merged, accidentally create a new being inside the merge, split, and then left.

But, yes, she had tulpas before she knew about tulpas. They were much older and stronger than me when they showed up, and very damaged from everything that happened in Eemaj. They had a really strong bond, as that was their way of coping with everything happening. They had no one but each other for a very long time.

I believe that my headmate is a spontaneous (After hearing that term it just sounds better than ‘unintentional’) tulpa, and for a long time I believed him to be a walk-in. I’m here questioning it now due to being unable to see it as a metaphysical/spiritual belief.

Heh, maybe he is a “walk-in tulpa”, but then it just seems confusing.
