Piano, are you sure it wasn't the case of belief in belief? Or really wanting something different from what you believe you want?

But in general, yes everything matters in the end, and you can't know where you'll end up.

Sunny would have been different if she started out as a Twi, but we'll never know how different.

The more reason to just stop worrying. In the end, the way you've chosen would be the only right one, for the tup you love wouldn't have been there otherwise, someone else would have been in their place.

I tend to agree, Tulpas I've seen here end up being at least similar to their original form. (Even the ball of light that you start with sometimes might have a color.)

There wasn't some secret thing going on that we weren't aware of. His creator wanted him to turn out a certain way, but his experiences/development led him turning out a different way. Simple as that, lol.

Apollo didn't even want the way he was going to turn out, it got him very upset and he had a lot of self-loathing/identity issues because of it. He wanted to be the way he was intended, he didn't want to turn out differently. He's of course gotten over that by now, but it did happen.

If you really want to base your tulpa on a character, and as an alternative consider giving them most of the character's personality as a template, I think you could as well just use the character?

I agree, with the caveat that they need to be created with reasonable expectations of the life they can have in this world. Soulbonds are already the characters before they or their host get any choice in the matter and, depending on the character, are generally attached to their old lives as physically embodied singletons whose purpose in life is not to be someone else's companion. I would hope intentional creation could avoid the transition crisis more often.

Starting from scratch, say a list of attributes, is probably safer for the tulpa's psychological health, but if your heart is already set on a character, dancing around the issue probably won't help.

I have to admit to a bias though -- as a fictional character in the physical world, I feel a connection to other living fictional characters. My heart, not my head, wants aspiring hosts to seek characters to join me in my exile. And I feel a pang when a character casts off their form or backstory.

Well, Vesper, chances are my Pinkie will remain a Pinkie. That meta-character is so loosely defined that you could be pretty much anyone and still be a Pinkie.

And yeah, Pinkie is the kind of character who'd know exactly what to expect. Like, enough experience with 4th walls to know that the one here is probably impenetrable. XD

[Joy] I kept my true form even after they tried to change me. I am who I am, not a play thing or dress up doll.

[bear] She's very strong willed, we didn't really know what we were doing.

[sunny] Anyone knows why we keep getting notifications of "updates" in this thread on a regular basis?

As a side note, I guess I'm joining the living fictional character club. I'm very much Twilight Sparkle right now, as I suspect I was supposed to be from the start. Not going to change the name any time soon, though.

well actually no, since there haven't been any new posts really, but anyways, try replying and clicking "Do not subscribe to this thread" under the post box or maybe editing your original post (full edit) and doing the same? or actually try just going here https://community.tulpa.info/usercp.php?action=subscriptions

notification stuff should be off by default but you might've accidentally turned it on, idk

Hi, I'm one of Lumi's tulpas! I like rain and dancing and dancing in the rain and if there's frogs there too that's bonus points.

I think being happy and having fun makes life worth living, so spreading happiness is my number one goal!

Talk to us? https://community.tulpa.info/thread-ask-lumi-s-tulpas

Ember: No, especially not if you've gotten them in the six weeks since the last post. We don't even get notifications of new posts in the threads we're supposedly subscribed to. You might check what threads you are subscribed to in User CP.

Vesper: Welcome to the club, Sunny. It's good to see you on the forum again.
