Hello there. I am new to this forum, and have read all the FAQ, several guides, and visited several threads. Most of my questions have been answered, but I still have a few remaining. Mainly:

  • Does my tulpa have to have a gender?
  • Can my tulpa only have a single form?
  • I am already really good at imagining things with my mind's eye. How detailed should it's form be to start with personality?

Thank you in advance, this seems like a wonderful community.

It doesn't have to have a gender.

It can have as many forms as it wants.

Personality can be started on whenever you like.

First, it doesn't have to have a gender. Technically, it can be anything you want.

Second, it can have many forms, though you'll need to sort out how they will switch between them. I've heard of people making people who can shape shift into animals, so its been done.

Third, if you are asking this question, then you are probably ready to move on to the personality. Actually, a lot of people work on personality before even starting to visualize the appearance. So it really isn't to your detriment to do. Just whenever you're ready, go for it.

Nope

They can have as many as you want. You will most likely have to force them all if you want them each imposed.

They dont even have to have a form to start with personality. Feel free to start that whenever you want.

The first to questions seem to have been resolved fully so I'll skip to number three.

ashenbrown mentioned a lot of people work on personality before visualizing. I did something similar to that in the case I pretty much only narrated to Bud and let him choose his own form along with letting his personality develop naturally. He got more detailed the more I worked with him until he finally decided what he wanted to be and even now continues deepen in detail in my mind's eye. I've always been proud of what I consider my level of visualization but have never experienced things in hyper realistic detail like I have started to now that I'm working with Bud so much.

If you already have a form in mind you can still let them fill the details in while you give a loose outline of their appearance as well ^_^

You can also simply skip out on personality and only narrate to them and visualize them.

The first question: Depends on the tulpa's preference, and your preference (at least in the beginning stages of development)

The second question: Depends on the tulpa's preference and your preference (at least in the beginning stages of development)

The third question: Meh, this is an area where your own methods are as good as any guess by the community. Constraining yourself to one of our opinions on this would not contribute to this experience as much as just. That being said, the easy answer is no form is neccesary--a very simple one has been recommended by the community on occasion, but do what you want. The simplicity of the form is just done to give the tulpa freedom over it's form, but that can arguably just as easily be achieved with a fully human form. The form is a placeholder, and gives you something to talk to. There are more answers to this question all over the forum, many a lot better than what you'll get here, and you should check there first--the old answers are detailed enough that you're a lot worse off asking us than you are just lurking.

And don't forget the guides.

That brings me around to my next point--

lurk. a lot. Undoubtedly you'll have more questions and almost certainly they will be answered by at least one forum if not the guides on the main site to which this forum is attached--many people seem to be forgetting that there is a main site full of guides and resources (not you in particular, just people in general) Most of the answers you get here are covered ad nauseum all over the site, and asking them again fills up the front space of the Q&A forum and blocks out unique questions.

Sorry if this is wordy, but that's just my $0.02

Don't forget to lurk for answers.

anyone who disagrees are dumb.

I'm gonna put this as my sig.

No. They can be male, female, herm, none, etc. You may define it, or let them decide, or they may change later.

Again, no. They can be single formed, dual formed, or be many aspected. I heard one guy had one tulpa that had three active forms that function simultaneously (SEE: the Norns or the Fates/Muses of myth).

You can work on personality first or last, or anywhere in between. Just know that the tulpa can (and most likely will) change from them a tad. An example is you decide they should be smart, and they develop curiosity.

Me: Hey, say something for this thread!

Koharu: Yay, cupcakes!

mfw there are no cupcakes. Sentience? Yes. Brilliance? Ehh...
