Phi May 21, 2012 May 21, 2012 1. I've use to watch movies like A Beautiful Mind, and read novels like Saya no Uta, and thought that it must be really cool to have a hallucination if it wasn't for all of the negative things like inability to think logically. 2. Affection. What can I say? I'm a lonely guy. 3. Science. As a psychology major, the psychologist in me can't deny the chance to test this out and see if it really is possible or not. 4. Affection. Cause I'm never getting a girlfriend. 5. Unlock potential through my tulpa. 6. Affection. Cause.
PolitenessMan May 21, 2012 May 21, 2012 Mostly because the idea of being able to speak to my subconscious sounds pretty fantastic. Also for science. I mean, if I, a non-lonely, well paid guy with a girlfriend can pull this off, anyone should be able to.
tulpatalk May 21, 2012 May 21, 2012 My first impression of what tulpas are was from wikipedia, and I latched on immediately. It said, and this is still my primary/first/cardinal reason, that the Buddhists used it as a sort of self-discovery or spirit guide. I learned about all the other aspects, like memory recall and a different opinion (I'm indecisive, so this'd help), and they all continued to increase my interest in this. [Note: Opinions]
Pleeb May 21, 2012 May 21, 2012 Hard to say. One of my main reasons is for science, but it's also for the companionship and stuff. I wouldn't call myself a forever alone, but I'm not really all that social with people. I'm hoping my tulpa could help me and motivate me with life and stuff. Pronas May 21, 2012 May 21, 2012 I decided to make one mainly for feeling lonely. Didn't matter if she would be just my friend or my waifu
Guest May 21, 2012 May 21, 2012 1. I was bored 2. Had nothing better to do 3. Felt like it Sounds all the same to me.
Sock May 21, 2012 May 21, 2012 Curiosity, mainly. When I stumbled upon it, and learned that anyone could do it with just a bunch of meditation alone, I decided it a shot. The possible benefits (Companionship, a second opinion, someone to help me remember math stuff) are secondary to figuring out what it's like and if I could really do it. Sock Cottonwell's Sketchbook, Journal, and Ask thread. Peace
Hoppip May 21, 2012 May 21, 2012 I have a shitty memory and the memory retrieval stuff sounds awesome Most of my IRL friends always end up moving away within a year or two, and while I still keep in contact with them, it would be nice to have someone with a bit more "permanence" also being able to just conjure up stuff when you get really good at forcing makes me sound like some goddamn wizard my chalupa's bio
