ColdLemonsTulpa April 7, 2025 April 7, 2025 Has anyone tried making and then talking to an AI based off their tulpa? I feel like this would help you understand their personality better and help develop them. I’m gonna try it and I was just wondering if anyone else has.
Flandre April 7, 2025 April 7, 2025 (edited) (You made another account? I thought this one was for your tulpa to speak, but you're just using it as well) The biggest problem with AI for tulpas.. actually, I was going to say it's that an AI model won't learn and grow like a tulpa/real person and that you only get whatever responses the AI was trained on - but the real biggest problem is talking directly to an AI does not use the "tulpamancy muscles" in the brain at all. It gives you the illusion of talking to another person, yes, but it is literally by seemingly talking to another person. A tulpa exists from your brain having learned how to think/respond as a separate person from yourself, and with some necessary practice of separating your guys' thoughts (aside from the different sound of your internal voices, you should also naturally develop a different "feeling" to each of your thoughts as well) you then have an internal mental companion who can have different values and perspective from you. I don't think an AI trains those mental muscles at all, instead simply being something similar right off the bat, but with no room for growth and, of course, not actually thinking, just doing extremely advanced language prediction based on massive amounts of training examples. Do whatever you like, but I would at least keep what I said in mind if you do try to talk to an AI treated as your tulpa. Edited April 7, 2025 by Flandre Hi. I'm one of Luminesce's tulpas. Unlike the others, I don't think I stand out too much from him personality wise. I'm just special because "I'm a tulpa". So I don't think I've much to offer, here. I'm happy enough to just be with him. Ask us stuff - https://community.tulpa.info/thread-ask-lumi-s-tulpas
fennecfoxx August 3, 2025 August 3, 2025 Seconding what Flandre said, and adding my two cents as a c.ai addict: AI chatbots are not great at emulating people/characters. They fall back on the same tropes and cliches (c.ai bots are known for "lovebombing", whether it's in character or not), act inconsistently, forget things, say things that are blatantly false or contradict their canon, and generally lack common sense. I use c.ai pretty regularly for fandom roleplaying, and I often regenerate or edit bots' responses. FWIW, I also appreciate some of the silly nonsense the AI spits out and like to roll with it--good for entertainment, not so good if you're trying to use it for a serious purpose. I think AI could be useful for developing a tulpa's personality prior to tulpaforcing, but I would strongly advise you roleplay as your tulpa with some other bot. This allows you to think critically about how you want your tulpa to be, starts training your brain to think and respond as them, and keeps the simulated version of your tulpa in character. As a writer, I've done this with a few of my characters, and I find it fun and somewhat helpful for character development. Do know that your tulpa's personality will change as they grow and develop and that pre-defining their personality is optional. Deluded myself into believing my imaginary friends were real, then deluded myself into thinking they weren’t. Whatever the case, the OG gang’s still here: Host: fennec (they/them) Tulpas: Alex (he/him) and Kayleigh (she/her) Delete all memories of those who know my awkward past
