I always thought how strange it was that there are so many pony people here but homestucks are pretty rare.

 

I wish that I knew the characters that you reference. Is there a reason you chose them?

Aura is a shiny umbreon because he wanted to be a shiny umbreon, simple as that

Other then that, I guess people just do it because they want a character they like in real life.

When I first created my tulpa, I gave her the name and form of Neptune. Her personality was my own doing though, based on what I thought her personality would be like based on her form(I didn't play the game, just happened across her), and what I wanted her personality to be. I didn't do any trait lists or other bullshit, I just had the personality fleshed out by feel, per se. She was Neptune(with a custom personality and voice) for a while, and then she decided to change her form and her name. Her personality also deviated a little bit. She's completely different from her origin, for the better.

 

She was given complete personality freedom from the start, for the most part, and then of course complete freedom to deviate how she wanted.

 

In short, I guess it was like a jump start to making a tulpa, for the uncreative like me. She ended up doing all the work of making a form herself. I got to relax and have a tulpa sooner.

Not really sure if Thunderfall counts here, because he's based on an OC, not a canon character.

 

Melody on the other hand started out with an unclear pony form, then took another OC's appearance at my suggestion, then finally changed her form to that of Lyra of her own will for the simple reason that Lyra makes me smile and she likes to make me happy.

I copied Jan off of this creepypasta/fanfic thingy (where their was a tulpa-like construct, A Servine in a trenchcoat), this was before I'd heard about tulpas (I gave up). When I heard about tulpas, and wanted to try making one, I alredy had something to go off of.
