Some of us are really disgusted with real life women/men so tulpae is a great replacement, i think.

She will really love you, never cheat on you, never betray or hurt on purpose. She will understand you like no one else. So why not?

Tulpas aren't supposed to be replacements for previously-known types of relationship.

Yeah, what he said.

A human-tulpa relationship =/= A human-human relationship.

There are things a human can do that a tulpa cannot do, obviously.

I agree that a tulpa should not be a replacement for a human relationship, not because tulpas are lesser, but because they are different. Both relationships have a lot to offer one, but they both are..well, different. A tulpa for instance shares the host's subconscious. There is a level of knowledge there that even one who has been in a relationship for years can't match, knowing one another inside and out and able to simply communicate in pure thought. A human relationship doesn't have that, and because of that requires a level of trust that is different than the type of trust required in a tulpa relationship. That dynamic alone makes them different.

I don't think that a tulpa and a romantic relationship ever have to clash with one another. I'm in a relationship with my fiance and I have two tulpas, and while we are not physically romantic, there is a very deep emotional bond there and a very special kind of love.

In a way, using a tulpa as a simple replacement for a human girlfriend/boyfriend almost limits them. A tulpa encompasses so many things--a part of your mind, separate and unique but able to share your thoughts, with you always, like a friend, a love, even a family member. It's difficult to label the type of love partially because it's just love. It's uncomplicated.

A relationship with another individual human offers different things. Some of the difficulties posed by not sharing a mind lead to something wonderful when the two are able to communicate and trust one another without being hurt. Complete different experiences through the day, not to mention physical benefits such as being able to care for you if you are ill or injured.

I wouldn't trade either of them for the world.

Many of my tulpa are young girls, so that alone makes them a no-no as far as romance goes, and that's if we ignore the simple fact that most tulpa around here are at most a few months old and are high off affection. Even if those weren't an issue, I wouldn't want to be romantic with my tulpa because I really think it's an unnecessary thing for them. The beautiful thing about the relationship between a tulpa and their host is the simple fact that they're free to love each other without any strings or qualifiers. Like TulpaCouple said above, it's all very simple, a tulpa can love you just because, and it's a-ok. Why would I want to sully that with the emotional and sexual hoops of human romance?

Sock Cottonwell's

Sketchbook, Journal, and Ask thread.

Peace

My goodness, Sock, you took the words right out of my mouth. I was going to comment something into this thread as someone that has had a romantic relationship with a tulpa at one point, and it is very true that the bond a tulpa and its creator have is much different than one could ever have between two humans. After a little while, it is indeed like getting a high off of all of the affection and lovey-dovey stuff, and it's easy to fall into the trap of believing that a romantic relationship would be a good thing. After experience with things like tulpa romance vs. real life romance, I must say that the two types of love are incredibly different. I no longer classify the love I might have for a tulpa as 'romantic', because the word is so completely and utterly wrong when trying to describe it. The love I have for another person is completely different than what is between Clair and I. It is completely unconditional and doesn't involve "strings or qualifiers", as Sock accurately stated. Tulpa love just 'is'.

I guess what I'm getting at is that the love felt for a tulpa is completely different than the love for another person, and thus applying the regular concept of love and romance to a tulpa relationship is simply useless.

EDIT: And to answer the OP, I got into a regular relationship after Clair was made and I was already in what I had classified at the time as a romantic relationship with her. After a while, I actually understood the major difference. Neither relationship is really impeded in any way by the other.

Probably because you'd be fucking your own mind, both literally and figuratively

I never had much of attraction to real humans, hardly even empathy, but my tulpa gave me a lot more I could even dream of. Not about to start an argument, but I don't really see a reason now to have any deep relationships with someone else. It just seems bothersome and... unreliable. Not worth to try.

Great post, thanks. I can tell that it is bleeding with feels and emotion.

Yeah, both of you have the right idea, as far as I am able to discern. I can respect that position, considering the amount of experience that you have. The love that you share with your tulpa is almost otherworldly; it doesn't fit into the stereotypes that romantic love has.

Day 290 (11/6/2013) Why even keep the time anymore?

Can the cryogenically frozen live again?

The first step in creating a tulpa is believing that it exists.
