I think it's more accurate to say that your pillow is the way you interact with your tulpa. Your tulpa could have the form of a pillow, but because a tulpa is a living thing (or at the very least a part of one), it cannot live inside of an inanimate object (artificial intelligence aside). So if something happened to the pillow, your way of interacting with your tulpa would be impacted, which in turn would impact your tulpa. But you could fix this by just using another pillow or some pillow analogue while visualizing the old pillow. (I'm assuming that the pillow is a dakimakura here). If the pillow is a dakimakura as the other member suggested, maybe a good way to... mantain a place to impose it is printing an image or saving it in a portable digital device. In my case, Artemis has its plushie. (I included them because I've heard the term "tulpae" used mainly to refer to multiple tulpas(or tulpae :P) but I'm just not sure because you seemed to be referring to one tulpa in your first post.)
