I've been trying to figure out what to do for imposition, and I can't figure out what the best method is, with all the differing guides.

So I ask you, how did you accomplish imposition?

Name: Dusk Rune

Species: Bat Pony

Gender/Sex: Female/Female

Appearance: Tan coat, Light brown mane & tail with a silver streak. Blue eyes and wings.

Current Stage: Imposition

Malfael's guide is pretty interesting, and I didn't see it over in the guide section, so I'll post it here. I haven't been going too hard at imposition, but I've done some of the exercises that are outlined in there. It got recommended to me a couple weeks ago on the IRC.

Has anyone here achieved full (or close to full) imposition?

We're all gonna make it brah.

Well, having never used any guides on this site or any other, I just.. tried to see my tulpas. I never thought about that, how there's so many guides for it and I disregarded them and did it as simply as possible. I just practice trying to see/feel/whatever else my tulpas in real life, no more no less. I only casually forced on occasion for a couple weeks, but I got decent results in that time. I could pretty decently hallucinate appearances of my tulpas, and felt their presence very well. My mind's eye placed them perfectly in my environment.

I've always been a do-it-yourselfer, since 80% of what I know about tulpas I figured out myself before discovering they existed. Always worked for me. I understand why guides for imposition exist, but... I can't see myself ever doing anything other than just imagining them actually there. Studying images of them helps, and I sometimes outline them with my fingers in the air, but otherwise it's pretty simple. The hard part is staying motivated to keep practicing for a long time. I'm confident if I kept going I'd have seen improved results, but honestly I just got bored.

My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.

Just read a bit of the guide, and I'll try using it.

Huh, I never thought to think of imposition that way. From all the guides I got the feeling that there was a specific way to go about it in order to get it to work, but I think I'll try this instead. It's so simple that it works for my overly complicated brain.

There might be a bit more to it than I said, but I don't really know how to explain it. I don't use guides because I guess I'm just smart enough to come up with experimental answers myself. I do neuromancy-type stuff practically for a living, so it just sort of comes naturally. I like seeing how other people go about doing things, and occasionally I'll learn something from them, but the majority of the time whatever first comes to mind just seems to work for me.

However I've noticed a lot of people seem to assume that there's right and wrong ways to do things from the start, that there are rules or any set way to do something. I don't believe that at all, and my brain is hardwired as such. If you're more comfortable following others' examples rather than creating your own (take the well-traveled path or blaze your own), I'd recommend reading multiple guides and taking what seems like it'll work while dropping the rest. If guides don't seem to work for you at all, then just go with your best judgement. Generally the best way to go about this type of thing is to see what others' experiences have been, and then to use that knowledge to guide your own.

Anyway, I just don't want you to be discouraged if my deceptively easy lack-of-a-method method doesn't work for you. I just wanted to throw my two cents in with the rest, for good measure.
