I'm not talking about getting Linux working in general, I'm talking about getting it working on a Surface Pro 3, which is apparently a major headache.

I've been using Linux off and on for years, since the installers were a lot less friendly, so actually getting it installed isn't the issue.

Man, super glad I decided not to take advantage of the upgrade when that was still going on. I'm still on 8.1 which isn't like, fantastic or anything, but at least it runs.

I'm loathe to the day when game devs and the people who manage a lot of the software I use actually drop support for 7 and 8.

Just for reference, 10 is just a better 8. Or at least I would say that if they hadn't just put out a computer-destroying update, that's really weird even for microsoft. Initially at least and up 'til now, 10 is better in every way than 8, actually. 8 Has annoying sidebar slidey stuff, a stupid extra metro screen and just dumb stuff in general. 10 is what 8 should've been, ie an OS made for desktops and not freakin' tablets.

But it dunn matter at the moment because 10 is ded.

Also, Solune, JoJo is pretty cool. I'm a big fan of everything through part-three

If you're not interested enough to watch the entire first season right off the bat, there's a condensed movie-thing that's pretty alright, and gets the general idea across

Nooooooo! Screw the condensed version! Don't even watch the show if you're gonna do that. "Man I really wanna know what happens at the end of this movie but I don't want to watch the movie. Can I watch a ten minute version?" The endings aren't that great if you didn't get invested by watching the show! And the first part is only nine episodes! I still look back on it to this day like, wow, 9 episodes led to all of this. Jonathon is a good JoJo.

Anyways yeah I'm not interested in watching parts 4+ (part 4 isn't finished in anime yet anyway), but they aren't bad either. But definitely recommend 1 through 3. Part 1 is 9 episodes, part 2 is like 17, part 3 is 48 over two seasons. Part 3 introduces Stands to give the show more material to work with, so it's really where the bulk of JoJo's Bizarre Adventuring happens. It's long but that's good because it's good! And yes the ending of part 3 is like 90% of why JoJo is so famous, but you gotta enjoy the ride too.

And take it from me that everything is great! The first part is great, the second is great, the third is great, all 48 episodes. When part 2 comes around there is a new JoJo (Was Jonathon, now Joseph) and he will be beloved too! And after him is Jotaro. They're all as great as the last, but unique, trust me! Happii urepii yoropiku ne!

also here's where to watch them in HD yw http://kissanime.to/Anime/JoJo-s-Bizarre-Adventure-2012 (parts 1 and 2) http://kissanime.to/Anime/JoJo-s-Bizarre-Adventure-Stardust-Crusaders (part 3) http://kissanime.to/Anime/Jojo-s-Bizarre-Adventure-Stardust-Crusaders-2nd-Season (part 3.5)

The player lags for me if I watch the whole episode in an HD quality, so you can either download the episodes (they totally let you do that) or change the quality between 720/1080 or 480 if you want once it starts lagging, if it does.

"Microsoft has received a "small" number of reports of Windows 10 freezing after installing the Anniversary Update on systems with the operating system stored on a solid-state drive (SSD) and apps and data stored on a separate drive."

Okay.. Yes, we installed the system files on an SSD because we want the SSD to actually affect performance. And we use our old hard drive for bulk storage of files. Good to know.

That explains why after the update I heard our hard drive running for an hour or two despite not accessing it. They just had to screw with us specifically. This is what I get for actually updating at their request.

It's 'cause of "Secure Boot" right? (At least partially) good intentions, bad result. It seems like the obvious solution is to have a physical switch on the motherboard or something to disable secure boot, so that the average consumer won't touch it but those who want to install a different OS can do so.

It's pretty easy to disable Secure Boot on the SP3, but the real problem is driver support. Last time I checked, wifi was dicey and the Type Cover and touchscreen had all sorts of issues.

Apparently there's an unofficial kernel available now that streamlines the process of getting everything working (at least with Ubuntu), which didn't exist last time I looked into putting Linux on it. I might give it a try again.

I  am  exasperated. I'm not going to bother explaining everything here, take my word for it. Lumi's been around computers since he was three drawing houses in Paint. I forgot our laptop was messed up and attempted to use it to watch videos because our desktop can't currently fullscreen. It took two minutes to start up for no reason and, despite not even having the anniversary update yet, managed to give us the laggy taskbar glitch. Cue running every dang program from CCleaner to Malwarebytes to sfc in command prompt. Windows Defender managed to fail fetching updates a few times before eventually working. Not a single one of the programs found anything wrong. So I try to turn it off - oh look, it's downloaded the anniversary update - and try to Shut Down without updating. Except I literally can't click it. In retrospect it might have been the laggy taskbar glitch in which case I could've waited a minute. But instead I just press the power button, because I am not installing the anniversary update on a system already having problems (for absolutely no reason, either). And the screen goes black and it's "turning off" for five minutes straight. Before sleeping. SO I hit the power button again to wake it up? and it takes me to the password screen for two seconds before the screen goes black again.

So I hold the power button, put the laptop down, and decide I can't handle anything else today. And I thought last time I didn't want to open the laptop again. This time around I regret that we purchased it in the first place.

Exasperated.

Fuck Windows 10. If I wanted the damn thing I wouldn't have gotten 7.

I tried using a Mint derivative for a small computer I was fucking around with, yet the interface was like trying to shake hands with a hooker overdosing on smack.

Windows 7 Professional is okay for my machine. I just wish the operating system itself didn't take up so much hard disk space...

This life of games and diligent trust,

it's the things we do and the things we must.

I'm now tired of being cussed,

so go sleep forever, end to dust.
