Is it a good idea to build in flaws into your tulpa's personality?

Say why, please.

I say no.

A tulpa is a human (-style) consciousness. Humans have flaws. Why put in flaws directly when they will arise from the neutral-leaning traits anyway?

[Note: Opinions]

Yes, if only just to reinforce the idea that they are 'human'. Otherwise, why work on emotion, since they would develop it anyway since they have human (-style) consciousness?

I'd say yes, but not just for the sake of having them. The flaws should arise logically from the traits you're giving. A trait I'm trying to force, for example, is being active/energetic but also restless because of that. I've already done a fair job at making him confident and opinionated, which also resulted in some narcissism. If you're already forcing positive traits, potentially negative ones should follow.

No need to build them in, the tulpa will develop them naturally. It feels right for something to have flaws since nothing is perfect, so of course your subconscious will deviate them in someway somehow.

Orange juice helps with concentration headaches.

I don't believe that a flaw should be something that needs to be consciously implemented. Rather, any "built-in" flaw must be necessitated by the nature of the tulpa. Anything beyond that should occur organically through deviation.

Well, my tulpa has thing thing with smoking... Kinda started without my consent. He's also a little vain. Flaws are the other side of personality. Like adding shadow to a painting to balance out the light.

Tulpa: Xaine

Form: Humanoid Male

But Tulpa are sentient, whereas your right hand...isn't.

I wouldn't think of traits as being positive or negative. It's a part of someone's personality, which you may or may not like. Someone might be proud of himself, which you might like or dislike.

quidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur

Building in flaws is much more healthy for the both of you. Firstly, it stops them being perfect and implausible. It would make relations much easier and for lack of a better term, give the tulpa something to work on.

If you tulpa was 100% perfect, then it would be just you with the problems. Just you with issues. Just you who brought on the bad moments. Always you being the sad one, the angry one, the lazy one, etc.

If you tulpa was capable of those things, then it would be a bonding process afterwards and it makes them more believable, less robotic, more relate-able.

Imagine if your real life best friend was perfect and without flaws. Could you stand to be around them?

I wouldn't like mine being a perfect little bitch. It would just make me feel more depressed.

Flaws should come naturally, everyone has their own flaws. Like with Alice she's a bit of a bitch and with Kat she's a bit too assertive. So yes, if you're doing the personality method please DO put flaws in, no one's perfect, so neither should your tulpas
