Tulpa Vocalization Practice

Indigo Blue

Question

This is a digital worksheet that I made with the intent of helping tulpas learn how to speak through practice. Feel free to use whichever parts of the worksheet will be useful to you, and share the results if you like.

You can either make a copy of the document to record your tulpa's responses there, record them on a separate doc, or just let them talk without worrying about typing. I'd encourage you to record them, however, if only because it's a nice thing to look back on in the future. If you choose to print this doc, be aware that one of the exercises is mostly hyperlinks, so you will lose information. You should cut out exercises/information you don't need before printing.

The worksheet contains 10 exercises, each with 15 examples. The host may feel free to add their own examples as they go along. It is organized from most basic to most advanced. All of the necessary information for understanding the exercises and how to go about using it is in the document.

Here is the link.

Break-down/description of each exercise. Feel free to create your own uses for these exercises if you don't want to use the document itself.

Spoiler

Exercise #1: Warm-Up

This is a simple word association exercise, in which a word is presented and the tulpa responds with their own word, and (optionally) explains why.

Example:

- Host: Green

- Tulpa: Red, I choose red because...

Exercise #2: Fill-in-the-blank/Mad-Libs

A noun or adjective is missing from a sentence, and the tulpa is to choose one with an optional elaboration.

Example:

- Host: The (noun) ate a (adjective) pizza

- Tulpa: The dog ate a tasty pizza

- Host: Why did you choose these words?

- Tulpa: Provides explanation

Exercise #3: Preference

Two related concepts are presented, and the tulpa will choose which one they prefer and explain why.

Example:

- Host: Snow or rain?

- Tulpa: Snow, because...

Exercise #4: Personality Trivia Questions

Simple questions are asked to the tulpa, and the tulpa may explain their answer.

Example:

- Host: What's your favorite color?

- Tulpa: Light blue, because...

Exercise #5: Conversation

The host and tulpa chat about some general topic that interests them.

Example:

- The host and tulpa discuss the kind of music they listen to.

Exercise #6: Image Describing

An image is shown to the tulpa, and they are meant to describe it, explain how it makes them feel, talk about what they think about it, etc.

Example:

- The host provides a picture of a panda, and the tulpa describes it and explains their reactions to it.

Exercise #7: Describe this Character

A concept of a character is presented to the tulpa, and they are to give it a backstory, a conflict, a physical description, or anything else they can think of.

Example:

- The host tells the tulpa to describe "Greg the superhero," and the tulpa goes on to explain what he looks like, what his powers are, and how he helps people.

Exercise #8: Continue the Story

The plot synopsis of a story is given, and the tulpa is to continue it using their own imagination/creativity.

Example:

- Host: One day, a mysterious stranger leaves a box at everyone's front door in Jeff's neighborhood.

- Tulpa: Jeff wants to open the box, but he's afraid because...

Exercise #9: Monologue

The tulpa finds a topic and then monologues on it without any interruption by the host.

Example:

- The host brings up animals to the tulpa, and the tulpa is allowed to think and speak about animals without interruption, and their mind meanders freely as they do so

Exercise #10: Complex Questions

Complex and/or intellectual/philosophical questions are asked to the tulpa to really get them thinking.

Example:

- The host asks the tulpa to give their opinion on the host's current life situation, and the tulpa then thinks and speaks freely on the subject.

I think this little worksheet is a really neat idea. I like that it's easy to use and it can give the host ideas for what to talk about if they can't come up with anything or feel stuck. I wish I could approve this.

Alice and I started this worksheet today and it's a lot of fun! We like how the answers can be simple, but then asking for an explanation makes them more complex and Alice can say as much as she wants. Some questions were a bit tricky and Alice didn't have an answer but that was ok too.

I added a back-up link, as well as adding back-ups to each of the images in the document.

Nitpicks: excersize 8 #7 & #8 seems much more difficult to make an interesting story out of than the other ones. Also when you say "(credit to J+C for this one)" you should probably change it to JGC since that's their new username.

Overall these questions are well thought out and make for a fun way to improve vocality, they are also easy enough to replicate that if someone runs out of a particular type of question then they can easily make them themselves. The use of progressively more difficult and complex questions also allows for this to apply to the most amount of people and ensures that people can always practice at their highest level.

Approved for resources.

I have a tulpa named Miela who I love very much.

I'd highly recommend these exercises to anyone practicing vocality, especially if you find it hard to think of things to say. I have no criticisms of the exercises.

As Breloomancer said, anyone can add their own questions if they want to do more or if they just want to add questions that are personal to them. This is a great resource as it is but it is also highly customizable, which I like.

I'd like to add that if you finish all the exercises and want more, what we did was use the word prompts from exercises #1, #3, and #5, and ask questions like "Can you define or describe [this word]?" "What words or ideas do you associate with [this word]?" "What do you feel/think about [this word]?"

Getting my tulpa to answer those questions has been extra helpful and gives us something to work on when we can't think of a conversation topic.

This resource/guide is highly robust and acts as a McGyver contraption when it comes to vocalization practice. You can mix and match many different subjects with this.

My only peev is that the mind will come up with things to fill the void. For instance, Exercise #1 will probably not be efficient when it comes to practicing vocalization, since it can either be the tulpa or the mind itself.

This is the only real issue with the guide - Human nature. The best exercises here are everything beyond exercise #3, in my opinion.

Simple, straight forward, and a good go-to when you are out of ideas. Then again, if you run out of ideas, then you may not be thinking outside of the box enough. For tulpas, you have to always be receptive and see the big picture, all while being able to observe the finer things within that picture. Approved.

Agreed, but that's where the "explain your answer" comes in, which is probably the most important part. The tulpa can decide "oh, wait, that wasn't me" or "I just came up with it out of the blue" if they want, as long as they're talking and thinking about it. Exercise #1 is marked as a warm-up since it's mostly to get the tulpa's activity going, rather than anything intensive. I probably wouldn't do Exercise #1 on its own, but using it as a stepping stool to the better ones is probs good. Our host did something similar with Apollo way back when.
