....101 days... oh, your Tulpa is 101 days old. I thought you were talking about the character.

I was wondering more what anime she is from and stuff like that.

She's not from an anime, she's based on the priestess class from the mmorpg ragnarok online. though her appearence is from A PORN COMIC (YEAH I WENT THERE), but she doesnt even have a name on that and she has the personality of a wall.

Want a medal? You're not the only one.

Respect +1 for not picking a waifu from an anime. That shit's kinda sad

>implying having a waifu isn't sad

but at least you fleshed out your own character, just taking the character design from ragnarok.

So I already made a forum post and whatnot, but haven't made a proper intro. I'm a 22-year old college graduate in Ohio and I just found the entire idea of a tulpa fascinating as an artistic endeavor that may help me later on with visualizing, drawing, and animation. I found out about tulpas from a small Reddit thread and found this place after a bit of researching for guides. I hardly use any 4chan boards and don't really want to, so I'm happy to be that one guy that wandered in here just because. At this stage, I'm hoping I can get some assistance out of these boards as I need it.

I've decided that the tulpa's name is Uzo, and I may post drawings of him when he's more developed.

I've already been posting today, and popped into the IRC, but I guess I should go ahead and have my intro anyways. I'm a 23-year old creative type, in the process of breaking into the video game industry, lifelong writer, and I found out about tulpas through /x/ and it's been kind of an intriguing topic to me for some time. So far I'm glad I looked into this community and that I've started the process of trying to form a tulpa of my own. Glad to have a community like this to learn from and share experiences with. Anyways, I think I've probably already interacted with a lot of the regulars in some form or other, but just figured I should get the intro post out of the way anyway since I noticed this thread. Hope to see you all around!

Oh, didn't notice this thread before. I go by the nick aldariz (or alda for short), and I don't really know how I got here, but once I did, I couldn't stop reading. I find tulpae really really interesting, and while I'm still a bit sceptical, I decided to try making one.

IRL I am a 23 year old introvert working in the IT field. I am very curious and open-minded and have lots of spare time I can waste talking to myself...

So yea, FOR SCIENCE!

I guess...

IT BEGINS

Alright, so I'm new to this site, but certainly not new to the idea of tulpas. I don't really have much to say about myself because I'm a bit paranoid and try to remain as disconnected from my actual identity as possible. I'd like to think I was one of the first people to post about tulpas on 4chan's /x/ a few years ago, and I've done too many QnA's to count between then and now, but I've never actually tried making a tulpa. I've always been a horrible procrastinator but decided to man up and make a tulpa next month. For now, I'm re-learning meditation so I'll be able to tulpaforce with minimal distractions. I've been meditating for about 8 years, but had a 2 or so year hiatus up until this week, so I'm kind of back to square 1.

Other than that I'm going to be doing a ton of experiments in the same vein at the same time, so I hope they won't end up interfering with tulpaforcing or causing me to die from exhaustion.

I'll try my best to stay active in this community as well, for once.

Could you post methods, links, or something?

Could you post methods, links, or something?

Sure. The best place to start is

Mindfulness in Plain English by Venerable Henepola Gunaratana:

http://www.urbandharma.org/udharma4/mpe.htm

Mastering the Art of Meditation by Daniel Ingram is good if you're more advanced with meditation:

http://www.interactivebuddha.com/Mastering%20Adobe%20Version.pdf

And Shinzen Young's The Science of Enlightenment is good if you're skeptical and want more concrete proof of meditation. But I can't find a link to it for free.

http://www.amazon.com/Science-Enlightenment-Shinzen-Young/dp/1591792320

A good source of thousands of talks about meditation, and buddhism in general.

http://www.youtube.com/user/expandcontract

And here's a very good talk on mindfulness by Jon Kabat-Zinn:

In terms of techniques I've tried everything from making complex patterned cards to memorize while in a full-lotus to sleep-deprivation-induced-meditation and I can honestly say simplicity is the key. The best method is to find a dark, quiet, comfortable room and sit however is comfortable (although I don't recommend laying down) and simply focus on your breathing. Every time your mind wanders just acknowledge what the thought was and why it may have popped up and return your attention to your breath. It'll take quite a bit of time before you can go longer than a few minutes without intrusive thoughts, but it's worth it. As of now that's the main technique I use and I do it for about 30-40 minutes a day every day, although you can do it for as little as 5 minutes a day or 5 hours if you'd like.
