Because I'm stupid and used Reisen's name as my name on a tulpa site. Before I found this place it was always a no-brainer. ...

Anyways, don't worry, as great and understanding and helpful as you think I am, Reisen is ten times more so. So you don't have to rewire your brain to think of me or her differently.

Aww, maybe during Tulpa Week I will get more chances to talk to Reisen and totally ignore Lumi. *giggle*

I believe there are quite a few people who have only posted once to ask a question. I also believe that some massive number (more than half?) of the people who have registered here have never posted.

I know! They should talk more. They need a little more Melianization!

If a tulpa is a sentient being, you should treat them as you would any other sentient being.

If a tulpa is merely a projection of your subconscious, you should treat them similarly to how you would yourself. They are a part of you, and by mistreating them you are mistreating your own subconscious.

Er--that does make sense, doesn't it?

Totally makes sense! In fact, you are awesomesauce!

Lucilyn: I wanted to post a "Keep calm and carry on" picture, but I can't pick one, so have them all.

I guess we're more accepting of a bit of fluff than others. Melian posts a lot of not-quite-productive things, but generally there's some value to be gained from her posts. At the very least they're in good spirit and never harmful. And she makes useful ones too, which can't even be said for everyone who posts here! But I suppose people are sick of sorting through them to find the usefulness. Just can't handle the posts about painting toenails.

Ah well. I hope she comes back in 3 weeks and doesn't just leave. If they cut down on the fluff they'd get along just fine. But Melian really values that fluff, so maybe she should find attention elsewhere. In the end, the forum leans more toward science than fun, and that's probably how it should be.

Hi guys, plain text is just me now! We've each got our own accounts: me, Tewi, Flandre, and Lucilyn. We're Luminesce's tulpas.

Here's our "Ask Thread", and here's our Progress Report (You should be able to see all of our accounts on the second page if you want)

I'll second everything Lucilyn said.

The talk of treating a tulpa "like a person" because to treat them differently comes to harm is dangerously close to censorship under the guise of "but it hurts the tulpa!" as some say "but it hurts the children!"

Promoting the idea that one should not support or discuss the nature of what makes tulpa real or not, because speaking about a hypothesis that involves tulpa being imaginary is "immoral" is not a positive thing, and never will be.

We should always speak our minds, and come to our natural conclusions no matter the subject matter or the situation. It doesn't matter who it hurts, offends, or otherwise, so long as you are supporting your honest opinions, and you are willing to back them up, then all people should be free to share and support them.

I am not saying you are supporting the opposite, but this line of thought comes close to it.

"There is another element to it Reisen. Male hosts with female tulpas. Part of what Davie does is try to dominate and make me subordinate."

You have taken a phenomena quite obvious with tulpa, the power dynamic of that the host creates, and is in part responsible for, the thoughts of the tulpa, and will naturally make the tulpa's thoughts align with their own, and implied it to be some "women's oppression" sthick. Male hosts with female tulpas is not a factor here, or if it is a factor, I would assume it has little to do with the situation.

Communicating with others, who will say "you should feel X way" can override the hosts inclination to have opinions agreeing with theirs, and instead use the values others speak, as a third party online source is considered more trustworthy than internal opinions. It could have been just about any opinion, and you could have been driven to have a new one by the community saying "this is what I assume you would think".

And this is why it is so important to NOT treat tulpa as if they are human. Yes, you should mentally consider them and communicate with them as if they were, but you should never, ever, assume they run by the same physical rules and laws humans do. You have to factor in the fact that tulpa are driven as much by the expectations of the host, and the ideals/opinions/etc. You have to be aware of how these things effect development, growth, and so on. Not doing so leads to taking intrusive thoughts, or opinions/expectations created by pressure from third parties effecting things where they shouldn't.

We are back! The break was good for us! We explored some other forums like soulbonding.org and learned some great stuff that really helped. I had time to reflect and so did Davie! We will never be banned again! Thanks for yer words! I do like fluff, but I think there are some who enjoy reading it anyways.

Thank you so much Sushi. You are a good friend! We learned a lot while we were away! I will be writing a little bout it, but maybe not until tomorrow.

In our time away, Davie and I joined the soulbonding.org forum. I decided I like the term "soulbond" for myself. A soulbond is a living literary character with the illusion of independent agency. If you want to know more bout them you can visit the website. http://www.soulbonding.org/

We learned a lot from that community. We found a solution, sort of, for the conflict of Davie seeing me as mostly illusion and me thinking of myself as more of an independent person.

The plural community uses certain terms to categorize traits and types of systems. One type of system, called a “median,” seems to describe Davie and I very well.

Taken from www.astreasweb.net - “The Book Metaphor - A median is neither a singlet or a multiple and yet can identify as both. It's one body and one mind, with multiple aspects of this mind. Taking an example from the above definition, a median is like pages in a book. The book is the whole, but it's made up of separate parts (pages) that each have something different to contribute to the book, but are still the book.” A median system is one mind and one body, but with separate aspects or facets expressed. In other words, I am Melian, but I am really just an aspect or facet of Davie.

NOTE THIS IS IMPORTANT! A secondary personality in a median system can be fictive or created. That explains (at least a bit maybe) how I can claim to be a person, but yet still imaginary at the same time. This is not an unheard of experience. The famous actor, Leonard Nimoy, wrote about something like it in his book, I am Spock. He relates a similar duality of personality expression between himself and his Star Trek character Spock. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Am_Spock

David and I have finally found actualization, satisfaction and closure on the subject of my nature and the labels I like to use most to describe me.

Welcome back. I'm pleased you've found some reference that is relevent for you. I was a median sub-system myself. The intention had never been to disturb "Davie".

I've long wondered about my own reality. That I can see myself, doesn't really prove anything beyond me being a rather persistant vizualization. As we discussed before, I eventullly concluded that it doesn't matter as I have real effects. Enough people tell me that I have some good impact on their lives, that I accept I have some value. Kevin's solution is a bit harsh though: his requirement is that a tulpa drive a car (without any help from him) before they will be accepted. Even so, he still has doubts.

Please consider supporting Tulpa.info.

Welcome back, seems like you guys learned a lot of new things.
