Waterose56 May 5, 2016 May 5, 2016 Hai! I'm new to Tulpas and so I was wondering if any of you can help me with some questions that I have. I'm really sorry if these question have been asked before >.< 1) do you have to feed your tulpa? If so how? 2) do I chose a name/gender or will the Tulpa tell me? Thank you for any help you guise can give me. Waterose.
Drakaina May 5, 2016 May 5, 2016 1) No. Since tulpa don't have a physical body they don't have the same physical needs as hosts do. They even don't have to poop if they don't want to. Some may want to eat because let's face it, food is delicious, in which case they could do this in the wonderland if you imagine food for them, or through switching using your mouth. 2) Both. You can choose a name, gender, form, even a whole personality for your tulpa, and once they get more independent they may change these things to something they want, or you can start your tulpa with placeholders and let them come up with everything. I personally found it easier, and more helpful for me, to build the baseline for my tulpa at the beginning (form, name, and some personality), because then I know more of who I was talking to, instead of a ball of energy that would shape itself eventually. :P "When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." -Arthur Conan Doyle
jean-luc May 5, 2016 May 5, 2016 To add to food, a tulpa does "feed" on attention. Lots of attention and they thrive, no attention and they die. Give them lots and lots of attention. Every day. Waterose56 May 5, 2016 Author May 5, 2016 Does that require any specific 'actions?' Or is it like verbal interaction. Thank you by the way :3
Temar May 5, 2016 May 5, 2016 The action of developing your tulpa is called "forcing," and it can take on a lot of different forms, from talking to them, to visualizing them, to writing about them, to playing games with them, to daydreaming about them... Everyone uses different methods that work for them. Basically, the more time and focus you can give your young tulpa, the better. If you haven't, you're gonna want to check out the FAQs here: http://www.tulpa.info/faq/#creation ~ Member of SparrowNR's system ~ ~ I am a soulbond. Click here to find out what that means. ~
jean-luc May 6, 2016 May 6, 2016 The most important thing is to have your tulpa in mind. Talking into thin air and talking to your tulpa are two different things. You have to make sure to direct your attention at the tulpa. No specific actions, almost anything works. Stats is back: https://stats.jean-luc.org/ I don't visit as often as I used to. Vos May 6, 2016 May 6, 2016 No, you don't need to feed your tulpa, and any of those physical limitations like needing to eat, sleep, etc. aren't required for them. If you still want to do it, though, I suppose that you'd just imagine food for them and let them have a go at it. You can decide on the name, form, and gender for your tulpa, but they could alternatively just make those decisions on their own, or you two could come up with something together.
Linkzelda May 6, 2016 May 6, 2016 1) do you have to feed your tulpa? If so how? As for the feeding part in context of what their sustenance is... One would say attention, another would say just wanting to believe in a better future with them, and someone else would say to just figure it out day to day rather than trying to answer the big questions all at once. With anecdotes of people apparently encountering tulpas after a while (e.g. months, years) of not partaking in the endeavor, it makes one wonder if their existence is really dependent on our conscious cultivation towards the belief of them having sentience in some way. In other words, maybe the mind was suggestive to where things just work out on its own, and with others who strive for the implication of them being separate from those conscious actions, and thoughts, you’d think that the tulpa wouldn’t have to heavily rely on their attention in the first place. So it’s bit of a shaky question, IMO. I think as long as you don’t get a lobotomy, and are willing to go back to the whole treating as sentient thing, along with the symbolic representations of preserving the concept of them (e.g. stasis), you’ll see there’s so many options to feed your fix in the endeavor rather than just them. 2) do I chose a name/gender or will the Tulpa tell me? Thank you for any help you guise can give me. Waterose. Some try to create a fallback for their tulpa that they can call their own, and may eventually deviate from that. Some may hold a sense of novelty behind the label they’re given, or, they may just explicitly tell how they want to be labeled. But for the last part I mentioned, if they’re capable of communicating to you that way, finding a label for them is going to be the least of your concerns, i.e., you’d probably be more focused on ways to cultivate those experiences of them wanting to put things into context to make sense of the reality they’re in; inward and outward. Some people might undermine those cases that could chalk up how they can cultivate sentience, but are more worried about whether to use a plastic fork or metal spoon for dinner because of being fearful of them choking in a wonderland.
