Thanks, this really made me laugh!

Is it just me or do people tend to repeatedly ask stupid meaningless questions on this forum?

No, but you're certainly a significant part of the problem. Though it's rather statements than questions in your case.

Use your head before writing please.

My word!

You frequently realize that your comments weren't exactly well-considered. That's what got you b& in the first place.

I mean, Grumpy Mistgod posts are pretty amusing but I think you're often causing yourself unnecessary trouble.

So you're a driving instructor?

Driving instructors need to be grumpy. That's required by law.

EDIT:

Original response retracted.

Melian:  FINE.  You are sorta right kinda a little maybe sometimes.  A little.

That's completely different, to be totally fair. In the past Mistgod and Melian have contributed to the fluff here and there, and there are a larger than average amount of posts about themselves and their own behavior. But what he's referring to is completely different and has been a problem for a long time, one that often leads to discussion of a large FAQ thread that we've attempted to make multiple times, but never quite perfected.

What he's referring to/ranting about is all of the questions newbies ask without any research at all done on their parts. To give better examples:

"Is my tulpa sentient? How can I tell?"

"I heard a voice in my head, is it my tulpa trying to talk to me?"

"Am I doing X right/wrong?"

I particularly dislike this one

Expanded on that, "Is it bad if I do X instead of Y? Will doing X hurt my progress?" etc.etc.

It really does get annoying telling people that this isn't math, with solid answers and applications. Tulpas, advanced past normal imaginary friends as they are, are still a product of your imagination. They are entirely influenced by your thoughts, and they live in your brain. "Progress" with them is like 90% training your brain to let you believe you've made progress, and 10% actual development. Speaking as someone who most of the time has extremely poor visualization after five years, I can claim that to be true. The actual skill developing is a small part compared to the loads of mental rewiring you have to do.

... And saying this time and time again, also gets old. So don't worry Mistgod, your point gets across. Unfortunately changing the *community* doesn't help that much when the problem lies with *newcomers*. All we can do is try to keep this place beginner friendly, and on an individual level stay familiar with lots of references, so you can point people in the right direction rather than retype everything over and over again, like I do.

Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn.

Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature.

My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.

We've been discussing some ideas for fixing these issues very recently, amongst the staff. As soon as we can come to a consensus on the best solution and write a few things up, we hope to be seeing a lot less of it.

"If this can be avoided, it should. If it can't, then it would be better if it could be. If it happened and you're thinking back to it, try and think back further. Try not to avoid it with your mind. If any of this is possible, it may be helpful. If not, it won't be."

In the meantime will start giving links to the FAQ and guides instead of answering the question directly, to avoid going completely insane or seeming too unfriendly. LOL

It's not a bad thing to do, if the questions are already explicitly answered (do make sure that they are answered in whatever you are linking them, and don't just arbitrarily link to Guides or whatever). It will hopefully encourage or inform users to look for resources that already answer their questions. Giving a copy-paste answer to a repeat question is kind of enabling them, if you ask me. But if you do have something novel and significant to add, then go for it.

It's super impudent and impolite to tell someone they made you laugh, that's a huge insult dude. I can tell you that your avatar made me die of laughter or the way you're acting like a brat is hilarious but there's no need to be vocal about it like that, please learn manners.

My OP, like many of my posts, was partly serious but also attempting to solicit some laughter. I think that is all Ido meant, that I was successful in presenting it in a funny way. I am a regular comedian who is actually funny to a few.

This isn't my original account. I'm an idiot who can't remember that password. I'm also an idiot who has several email accounts. See my problem? xD Anyway, I remember when I made my first-ever I HAVE A QUESTION BRUHHHS . . . and I was pretty surprised at how many other threads there already were on the most recent page at the time that had the same questions over and over and over again. (Just to be clear, I wasn't going to ask one of *those* questions. Can't remember what it was now though.)

Maybe I'm holding newbies to an unfair expectation, but I read several guides, articles, and threads before I ever asked my first question online. I really don't understand why there are so many who must ask their questions before snooping around first. I try to be patient, but I can't deny that it gets exhausting.

James: Hello, all!

Thx David!

I know you'd understand after all.

Inazuma pls

We truly live in a sad world where people seem to have lost all sense of irony and humor. I for once would be delighted to know I have made people laugh, whether deliberately or not. Better than making em cry, isn't it?

Now if you do want some constructive input from me, this is an universal problem found in all forums and no obvious solution exists.

You can lock newbies into a beginners board for the first posts and only subsequently let them gain write permissions to the others. This also encourages them to answer their questions among themselves which both increases their initiative to learn and saves experienced users from constantly having to deal with the same questions over and over.

But basically there is no need to ask any questions related to tulpa creation anyway. Everything can be found in the guides or searching the forums. Even an idiot like my host made it without asking a single one.
