The_Unnamed August 24, 2016 August 24, 2016 I can't remember exactly, maybe in June or July, I heard a voice in my head that was not my thinking voice. It was as if it were talking to me. At this point in time I hadn't known about tulpas, though. During June and even before I was obsessed with characters from certain video games/books and I had been writing characters of my own. I had only recently learned more about tulpas, and I am curious if what I heard that day was a tulpa with a voice and no form. Tis' a silly question, but I am indeed new to tulpas.
Luminesce August 24, 2016 August 24, 2016 Tulpas don't generally just appear fully developed, so unless they maintained pretty decent contact (persistence is a big part of tulpas) it's more like random similar phenomena. People tend to get that while first developing their tulpa, random moments of communication of some kind, and think they've got a fully developed tulpa hiding in their mind. It's just the sensation of thoughts that aren't given the "This is me" context by your brain. Experiencing that at random's pretty weird I guess. And it's generally what takes the most time in developing a tulpa, getting their voice to be that independent of your thoughts. Anyways, could help you know what you're aiming for when making a tulpa. If you want to. Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature. My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.
Procron X August 24, 2016 August 24, 2016 Did you spend lots of time thinking about these characters, and did it seem like the character was talking to you? If not, I'm going to go with Luminesce here and say it was probably nothing but your brain forgetting to say "this is you talking" rather than a tulpa. It usually takes a lot of time, and if you have been spending that time, I wouldn't be too surprised, but I tend to think it's probably nothing but your brain being dumb. It could be similar to when you daydream a conversation and the other person seems to talk back to you even though they're not there. Niteo and Amber Take On the World Amber speaks in italics right now. Talk to Niteo on here or on discord We share the body, we share a life. I'm not an accessory to his life...
The_Unnamed August 24, 2016 Author August 24, 2016 Earlier today I wrote this: "I attempted to create the face for the Tulpa and now it feels like someone is near me and when alone I don't feel alone and sometimes some movements I make don't feel like their own. When I discover certain things like paranormal, creepy, etc, I get some sort of paranoia. So what's happening to me might be paranoia or a Tulpa in action?" Though now, I don't feel paranoia--or whatever that was, but I still don't feel alone.
Vos August 25, 2016 August 25, 2016 Tulpas don't just pop into your mind instantaneously - the creation process takes time and effort for everyone, even if some people have it easier due to whatever factors. It's very unlikely that what you're talking about is a tulpa. It's not uncommon for people to have intrusive thoughts pop into their mind that don't feel like their own, and we experience this a lot. Also, when you're making a thread, it's always better to have a descriptive title so that other people can find it later on.
Temar August 25, 2016 August 25, 2016 Counterpoint: In the soulbonding community (and a few other places), there is a phenomenon called "walk-ins." It's when someone does seem to just walk into the system fully formed, and often it's someone you might have forced subconsciously, like a character from media. But most of what makes a walk-in legitimate is acknowledgement and interaction of them. Also, they tend to happen to people who already have multiple system-members or an otherwise fluctuating system, so it's not too difficult for their collective brain to make a personality out of wholecloth purely as a matter of practice. Personally? This doesn't sound like a walk-in. This sounds mostly like it was a stray intrusive thought (because the brain just does weird stuff sometimes), and now you're subconsciously building something out of it because you believe there's something to it. Which, hey, that is a path to building a headmate, just a less conventional one. Just realize that you are the one in control, yeah? If you want this presence to become a tulpa, then you can start focusing on them and make them one. But if you don't want this presence around, just stop believing it's there and it will go away. And definitely don't worry that it's malevolent or anything like that... the only thing that will make it malevolent is if you believe it to be malevolent, because tulpas are kinda self-fulfilling prophecies like that. ;) ~ Member of SparrowNR's system ~ ~ I am a soulbond. Lucilyn August 25, 2016 August 25, 2016 Tulpas don't generally just appear fully developed, so unless they maintained pretty decent contact (persistence is a big part of tulpas) Yeah Lumi was trying to include soulbonds with that too. 'Cus a walk-in might appear fully developed, but I mean, they have to be fully developed. Walk-ins are not stray thoughts or voices in your head, they're like full people that are just there. If you're already aware of tulpas/soulbonds, then it should be pretty obvious when you have one. I like that "Acknowledgement and interaction" is what makes them real thing. If people think tulpas can just show up instantly because of "walk-ins" they're more likely to let invasive thoughts like that happen. So it is good to acknowledge acknowledgement! And belief as we call it, too. Hi, I'm one of Lumi's tulpas! I like rain and dancing and dancing in the rain and if there's frogs there too that's bonus points. I think being happy and having fun makes life worth living, so spreading happiness is my number one goal! Talk to us? https://community.tulpa.info/thread-ask-lumi-s-tulpas
Solune August 26, 2016 August 26, 2016 Personally? This doesn't sound like a walk-in. This sounds mostly like it was a stray intrusive thought (because the brain just does weird stuff sometimes), and now you're subconsciously building something out of it because you believe there's something to it. Which, hey, that is a path to building a headmate, just a less conventional one. My subconscious created servitors that later served as the templates for my tulpas. As you say, he might be onto something there without even realizing it. I think the reason some people have trouble creating Tulpas is because they're not using methods best suited to how their brain works. Non-conventional methods for the win. If you really stop and think about it... we're almost setting him back by making him aware of it. Might be best just to let him think the voice was real if that's the fastest route to making it real.
